GDT: 9/21 3:00 PM EDT - Team Sweden 2-0-0 vs Team North America 1-1-0

Team NA has been a pleasant surprise thus far. I think they can win today, utilising their dominant team speed. The injuries may prove too much though if they dress 5 dmen.
 
Last game of Team North America was a Miracle on Ice – Almost.

It was reminiscent of the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” game – a group of plucky young (North) Americans up against a solid veteran Russian team. There was high-drama, lots of goals, big hits and an exciting finish. Pucks were clanging off goal posts and there were a lot of close calls. But this time, the game ended without an upset. The high-speed, high-octane Team North America could not overcome a 4-goal second period when the Russians got the all the bounces and all the breaks. And Bobrovsky stood on this head while Murray had to hide his after looking like Swiss cheese in the second frame before he got pulled. But remember that these kids are 22 and under - half the NA team are made up of Canadians while the other half are Americans. They were resilient enough to bounce back in the third only to fall short of tying the game several times in the dying seconds. In fact, both teams put on a great show. This was perhaps the most exciting game in the #WCH2016 tournament so far.
 
Berglund will play like 2 minutes and then get benched when the coaching staff realizes it's better to roll 11 forwards then playing him
 
Unfortunately for Finland I think the only way Sweden wins this game is by keeping it a low scoring affair, like 2-1 or 3-2. We just don't have the firepower to go any higher, and we'll be playing a rested team to boot.
 
Getting defeated by Sweden in a game where I felt we had many chances to even the game. Pretty heartbreaking interviews of the players after the game.

The next day, have to cheer for Sweden to destroy their opponent. Feels weird, man.


But anyway, Go go Sweden! 7-0 would be good.

Winning by 2 would be very reasonable, with NA trying to tie without a goalie and Sweden scoring an empty netter.

I think all swedes would love to help you but this is not a highscoring team.

5 is sufficient. Finland need to beat Russia by 3 anyway to pass them, at which point 5 would be enough to pass NA as well. Sweden winning by 7, 8 or 10 doesn't add anything that winning by 5 doesn't. Would still have to beat Russia by 3.
 
Sweden needs to slow the pace down. Otherwise we're probably f'd. Russia's win was not good for us. I predict NA & Russia in semi. And a final between Can vs NA. Which would be a hell of a battle.

Hope I'm wrong though and that us Swedes make it to atleast the PO's
 
Should be one of the most exciting games of the tournament. Will be interesting to see how Team NA handles such an impressive defensive group. I think Sweden takes it, but not without a fight. Although Sweden hasn't been the most up tempo team, if they come out slow and let the kids run and gun then we just might get an upset.
 
Sweden might have the slowest forwards of this tournament. It's scary to know that they are going to have to backcheck and tey to catch team U-23, who is without a doubt the fastest team ever assembled.

On top of this, Sweden played 20 hours ago and will tire as the game goes on.

My guess is 4-2 U-23.

I'm not sure if that's possible.

I think 1st from group A, plays 2nd from group B and vice-versa, so NA if they advance will be meeting either Canada or Europe. Sweden as well

Sure, hell of a battle. I bet the Canadians really feel like playing physical against their future stars. Canada not playing physical is not Canada imo.

I think that would be as close as you can get to an all-star game and it would be a sad ending to this tournament.
 
Ryan Murray is apparently nursing an injury and , if he plays at all, probably won't play much. With Ekblad already gone we're down to 5 Dmen...Matt Murray hurt his thumb during game vs Russia...Is he even the backup? Or is it Hellebuyck ( sp? )?

Matt Murray isn't dressing. Hell Boy is the backup today.
 
Well after cheering for TNA the entire tournament, I now desperately want them to lose.

Losing Backlund to concussion has instantly killed my appetite for this tournament and I want Johnny out and negotiating his contract so he can be at camp signed and healthy as soon as possible.

Also would be great to put a temporarily end to the McDavid and Matthews circle jerk.
