This is like when one guy can comes home with a black eye, and the wife screams:

"what happened to you??"
answer: "you should see the other guy!!"

Well fellows...if you think that way, you should come and see Finland at the moment

You seriously don't know what has happened to Sweden?

Not even Sweden anymore...

This tournament is one of the rare cases where I (by far the biggest Finnish homer in hfboards history) can assure you that if the game against Russia ends in one team scoring six goals, it won't be team Finland that wins. Expecting a blowout of both of the games. Would be better if Barkov, Laine, Pulju and Risto just play for team Europe at the next WCH when all have reached their primes. At least that way they have a chance to win some games.

What happened to Slovakia seems to happen to Finland. The old greats have retired. All hope has died. Hell, Slovakia or Switzerland might have faired better at this tournament.
What an odd comment just after you listed four core players of future and that's not even all of them.

This team is weak. However, half of the players are under 25 and can be named for the next best on best and the roster is then much better on paper.

These games are always fun and I don't expect anything but an intense game where every player will be working hard to win.

Well Selanne looked in good shape the other night on TV, can you dress him for this game. :sarcasm:

Selänne was interviewed just yesterday. In the end the interviewer asked him the final question:

"What would you do if you'd be still playing and in the lineup against Sweden?"

-"A hat trick." :laugh::laugh::laugh:

Seriously speaking: I expect a close game because we just can't afford to lose this one if we want to advance. A win would be huge but it's a tough road to get there, especially given the swedish D which is lightyears ahead ours. :help: And why did they leave Haula off the lineup!?!?!?! Idiotic.

Never give up, though!!!! :handclap:

Well at least Sweden's economy is growing faster than in most countries of Europe.

What comes to hockey I see Finland bouncing back in 2-3 years and being able to challenge other top nations then. So there is light in the end of a tunnel.

It takes more than that 4-6 years. Finland' best Talents are teenagers

.
Growing? Our medical care is down the drain. Our school system is crap. And current goverment is terrible and dont care about medelsvensson.

Finland can afford to lose if they beat Russia like 6-0 and then NA loses to Sweden

??

I dont get this... FIN cant possibly afford to lose another game.

Arent only 3 teams qualifying for the last series?
Team Europe already has 2 wins.
Canada will probably have 2 or 3 wins

That leaves room for only 1 more team.. If SWE beats both FIN and NA they are the 3rd team.

You need AT LEAST 2 wins since im sure there will be atleast 3 teams with 2 wins+

Erik Karlsson mic'd up is kinda funny, muffins?

You're right, Finland only won gold in the WJC U20 and gold in the U18s, 3 out of the top 5 draftees in the 2016 draft were from Finland and mock drafts have 3-4 Finns looking like top 10 picks for the 2017 draft. Finns have totally lost all hope :sarcasm:

sweden will crush us. 5-1 victory for them.

Humiliation of the lifetime. But at least we get to see our big brother feast on an inferior opponent. I wonder if this is the worst D Finland has ever iced on a best on best. Disgrace.

What are you speaking about?... it's much worst anywhere in Europe, including Finland :help: ...but we always find ways to bounce back :banghead: :banghead: :yo:

I hope you realize that he is basically talking about immigration and nothing else. And i don't think Finland can compete with Sweden in that department.

It is better when Finland don t reach the semis! Then they could play vs Canada.
This could be a big Nightmare like 2010 vs US.

Hockey please. I crave for more hockey. Can't wait for the puck drop!

Ummm now you are just being so over-shooting pessimistic it's actually sounding funny.

Finland has very inexperienced and potential D.

The two top teams from each group move on.

I think this is easier game for Finland than the one against Russia (specially now that they are on the roll) cause we are more used to the structured pattern of play of Sweden. Our defense will get less exposed and get more help from our forwards cause there will be less rushes

I think it will be a one-goal game..and I hope is Finland who wins :)
