No question. Matthews has been one of the best NA players, Eichel one of the worst.

Everything that Eichel did that worked last year, isn't working right now in this tournament. Pretty clear that he needs to be "the guy" on his team to get the most out of him. Luckily, he'll be able to be just that on the Sabres, while he doesn't fit in so well here.

I still expect a 70 point year from Jack.

Its a September tourney. Eichel will be star in 1-2 year, rest assured

Team NA is outshooting Russia. This is the result of bad goaltending, not a young team. All 4 goals were bad (maybe not the first one, it hit the post...but then hit Murray and went in).

sour grapes bro... i told you before that we were gonna see:sarcasm:

NA broke down defensively in 5 or 6 consecutive shifts. It led to a breakaway by Namestnikov and a great scoring chance for Kuznetsov. Also, Ovechkin put a one timer off the post on a 3vs1. Murray didn't help, but NA lost their focus.

Yeah, but we're forgetting about all the chances NA had that they didn't capitalize on. It's not like it was one sided. McDavid had a breakaway from centre ice. We had how many 3 on 1's?

Shots are 27 to 21 NA. It doesn't help when your starting goalie has a .789 save percentage, with 3 bad goals.

I called the Shipachyov hit on Jormakka a clean hit, look it up.

The truth is, if you cannot receive a clean hit without having a concussion your NHL career might not last long.

I'm not commenting on whether hit was clean or dirty...u saying a concussed 20 year old kid needs to learn to take a hit is what I'm commenting on...Ekblad wasN'T there admiring a pass or staring at his skates, he got blasted behind the net...it's a fast contact sport, shyte happens...Ekblad's a tough kid...HE CAN TAKE A HIT...

for the clean hit? stick the basketball bud

I don't see the point in rocking a franchise defenseman in a tournament that is close to the start of the regular season. Not to mention Finland was out of the game.

Saw this coming, Na cant compete with the better teams. Skill is not enough to win in these types of tournements

Yeah not having your best defenseman is kind of a big deal though. Before this game NA looked far better than Russia. This isn't the same team from the other games and it's not just because they're playing a better opponent. My god has Eichel been bad, he's getting worse every game. Matthews and McDavid are the only forwards playing any good really.

he is a puck dominate player, but he should still be able to adapt better, use his teammates and move/use open ice to create offence, I get that's not his game but Id still hope for better

agreed with the 70pts prediction, I am big fan of his, he is a very odd player to me haha, I can see him being a top player in the league or just another good player, its hard for me to gauge him

ugh. poor ekblad. there is no such thing as a 'mild' concussion.

i know leaf fans love komarov but i hate how dangerously reckless he is.

His 2nd concussion already in his young career. He needs to keep his head up or it will be a short career for him.

Komarov is a really clean player and he hits like a mack truck but it did look like he glanced up Ekblads shoulder and caught him pretty square in the side of the head...don't like to see that stuff but at that speed and Ekblad crouching/reaching while turning, its tough to avoid.
Absolutely wasn't intentional head contact though.

lol this is such bs, all year we heard sabre fans complain about how bad Eichel's linemates were, so which is it

Eichel needs a hatrick to redeem himself about now. The intensity is really lacking right now. He's gotta treat this as game 7 of the Stanley Cup. Scheife, McKinnon, Mcdavid, RNH and a few others are playing great.

The thing is, Russia cannot dominate anywhere on the ice but I don't think there is a single team that can explode that quickly on offense. You give them one great scoring chance and they'll burn you. It's Russia, they have 4 or 5 guys who can beat a goalie clean from the circles with a snap shot.
