Ovechkin almost hero'd the game massively but that still doesn't remove the fact that he needs to play properly for the first 59 minutes of the next game.


Almost feel bad that it didn't end up going to OT just due to the kind of a story that would make. Now I just feel bad for Markström for no shutout. I guess it's tough to fault him for letting in a shot with 4 guys blocking his view at once.

I agree with the call on the ice, but I think it's possible that it hit Ovi's stick.

Yes but they ruled that it didn't hit off his stick. It was a tough call.

Thare is just no way of proving that it did touch his stick. No goal was the right call.

yeah and even though I was rooting for Sweden I thought that he did make contact

imo it would definitely be a good goal if the refs ruled it on the ice

Can't be very happy with the ending of the game(neither will Russia be obviously) but 2pts are what matters. For the record I think it was a legit no-goal, maybe that it touched Strålman a little.

Of course, just like it'd have counted if it was in the middle of the offensive zone, he received the pass with his hand and then shot the puck top shelf with the stick before the puck hits the ice. Makes no difference for the rules.

Yup, possible it grazed Ovys stick, but it has to be 100% conclusive for them to overrule the call on the ice.

How could you even think it touched Ovie's stick? It clearly didn't. They showed from several angles. Puck went straight into the goal with no interference. Ovie's stick wasn't even close to the puck.

If it touched anything, it's Strålman's. Not sure how anyone can see that touching Ovi's stick. That part looks almost conclusive, and with the call on the ice...
