not sure why anyone would have written Europe off. I mean they essentially have the best players of the rest of the nations not playing here, all of which are solid national teams. If you look at the squad it's bunch of solid players.

Quick has been very inconsistent in the last few years, but there's no question in my mind that when he's on he is one of the best goalies in the league. He can dominate a game like very few goalies can when he's in the zone.

Basically every goalie in the league can dominate when they're in the zone. It's consistently being in the zone that's the hard part. That's what makes a goalie truly elite.

I'd say the US was killed by not allowing under 23 players but knowing the selection staff they would have screwed it up anyways.

They seriously still believe in choosing dead puck era style teams.

You know if Europe had some better dmen then they'd be even tougher because their current guys are pretty slow at moving the puck up to the forwards (let alone foot speed).

Imagine if this tourney had happened like 3-4 years ago when guys like Ehrhoff, Chara, Streit not to mention Gaborik/Hossa were even better.

In the Olympics Team USA had a great offense but where shut down once the knock out stages begun. But you can not shut down something that does not exist, can you?

His SV% gets artificially deflated due to his team being so good defensively.

Fact is, he has a SV% over .930 in games where he sees more than 30 or more shots. He just sees so few of those games, his SV% isn't that high.

Distance-wise, he faces some of the easiest shots in the league

Nah, I'd argue there are very few goalies who can dominate the way Price, Holtby, Schneider, and Quick can for stretches. Quick is just susceptible to some bad stretches while the other 3 are pretty consistent from week to week and month to month.

Whoever said they didnt care werent paying attention. They had no training camp and everyone else did they were going to be slow starters. Their talent is undeniable.
