Yeah let's trade a 24 year old who is our best offensive defenseman.
He's a redundant piece. I'm not sure it's the right decision to hand him a 5 year, 30 million dollar contract for 1.5 years of good play.

I'm sure the Rangers won't forget about his holdout, either.

I think the communication and positioning and system in the D zone is why Skjei sucks so bad. He doesn't know where he can put the puck and where his teammates are in support so he's adopted Marc Staal's hang onto the puck until there are 3 forecheckers on your ass and then scoot to the front of the net and stay there until the puck is in the net.

If he is the best offensive defenseman how is he redundant?

He is literally the best D-man on the team. Calling him a redundant piece is like calling Panarin a redundant piece because we have other wingers who exist.

Sometimes I feel like they should convert DeAngelo into a forward. Seems like most of his production comes from pinching up into the RW spot.
He should switch with Smith. Cause I don't know how any D-man could leave Marchant unattended feet away from the crease.

He's redundant? LOL. Can't have too many skilled players. How about just get rid of Skjei who provides very little.

i feel like i have seen howden 10 feet from his man on a goal like 5 times this year already

Let's just agree to disagree.

DeAngelo will never hold more value next summer. The Rangers have Trouba locked in for the next 7 years at 8 million a season. The Rangers have Fox who is a similar player and will cost less money on his ELC for two more years. There's Lundkvist who looks really promising. There are a bajillion LHD prospects that are knocking on the door.

I just don't see how he fits here long term. Use him as bait to address another significant systemic weakness.

Is it just me or does this roster play inferior to last seasons
Definitely seems less competitive. Last year we got blown out a few times but most of our losses were close. This time is more like play really well or really bad. There’s no middle ground.
