#87 Sidney Crosby Milestone Thread - History will be made

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Lol not even close.

Howe has too much longevity for crosby to be close.

His peak and 5-7 year prime are also better than anyone besides 99, 97, 66 and 4.

Unfortunately,
Howe's greatness is pretty much lost on most people these days, depending on age. I didn't fully understand and appreciate him until I was older and put it all into prespevtive. His name is Mr. Hockey for a reason and as you said he was on par with 99/66/4 and 97.

A bit like Orr, what Howe accomplished is almost becoming Urban myth. The same will happen in 25-50 years when people see this guy named Gretzky with 200+ point seasons. They will discredit him and drop him down the list too due to poor goalies and expansion.

It suck a bit that there is no PO for Sid, these last 3 years, he would easily go to 4th
all time in PO points, and probably no3 (32 points behind) Messier is to far ahead.

He need one last decent PO run.

He is 6th now with 201 (tied with Jagr but less goals), Glenn Anderson is 4th with 214 points.

Just 20 playoff games and 16 points past the age of 30. As with certain elements of his career, what seemed like sure things crumbled away.

After reaching 185 points the postseason after the back to back wins, few would have expected him to be sitting at “just” 201 until at least the 2026 playoffs, even when factoring in the knowledge of how it can all turn on a dime and can go away.

If historians are as neutral and fair as they think, the back half of his career will be picked over, though I suspect there will be a kindness and nuance that other players are not afforded.

But things can absolutely turn on a dime back in the other direction. Who knows what these expected final two years will bring.

What milestones is Crosby closing in on now?

I dont think there is a major one he will get this season
but closing in on Sakic and Iginla in goals 8 behind to tie
22 points to tie Lemieux for points (RS + PO)
17 points to tie Dionne ESP
