It doesn't get mentioned enough that Crosby's prime was played during the lowest scoring era for elite forwards in the past 50/60 years, even lower than the DPE.

Lower scoring and more defensive-oriented hockey also leads to less opportunities for superstar offensive talent to separate themselves from the pack. The top players are getting more ice-time on average these days as offense vs. defense is prioritized.

As a hockey fan, I'm so happy to see the career of Crosby actually live up to the hype. and not disappoint Even with his injury struggles, he managed to cement his legacy and recover nicely. Not as many 'what if' questions like Lindros or that feeling of disappoint as a hockey fan. Aging like fine wine, it's a shame the team is terrible.
