#87 Sidney Crosby Milestone Thread - History will be made (MOST FACEOFFS WON IN NHL HISTORY 2025-01-07))

Why isn't he down at the goal line like his golden days? His puck deflection skill has to be one of the best all time
That's how he scored last night. Down at the goal with a tip in.

Crosby is having a great season and likely gets some hart votes, especially if Pens makes playoffs (I think they will).

But being top 10 in scoring and top 3 in goals definitely isn't enough to win the hart. Probably not even enough to finish top 5 this season.

Give Crosby today 3 more goals and 9 more points and that makes him top 10 in points and top 3 in goals. And in that case, he's definitely still behind all of Kucherov, MacKinnon, Quinn Hughes and McDavid at least for hart. Possibly a few others.

Like you say - it's an extremely competitive race for the hart trophy this year.
However, like Price when he won it. ..take Sid off the Pens, and they are in a tight battle for last

I hope he can carry that Penguins squad to the playoffs, still wanna see Sid on the big stage. The team around him needs to pick it up in a big way.

Sid is still an elite 5vs5 player.

Crosby is now the 10th player in NHL history to reach 800 primary points (goals plus primary assists) at even strength:

Not bad for a player's been criticized for racking up secondary assists and/or points on the powerplay.

Sorry I’m too stupid to figure it out but what does Super Mario’s even strength points look like.

The 0.98 for Gretzky is blowing my mind.

Looks like Ovi missed his big chance tonight to pass Crosby with a secondary assist....

Seriously though came here to say that I wonder is Crosby plays long enough to end up 4th on this list.

Good lord look at 99. People that say he is not the greatest hockey player ever are insane.
It's wild that every single record is basically a collection of all time greats jockeying for spots 2 through 10, with Gretzky miles out ahead of everyone at #1. There is no argument for anyone else but him as the best ever.

Imagine if he actually had as many secondary assists as some people like to think he does?
"Secondary Sid" is currently 12th all-time in primary points and 22nd all-time in secondary assists in the regular season. In the playoffs, he's 7th all-time in primary points, and T-13th in secondary assists.

The only players in NHL history who rank ahead of him on both lists (ie primary points in the RS and primary points in the postseason) are Gretzky and Messier.

It's hard to think of a disparaging nickname that's backfired more spectacularly.

You couldn't drop by a Flyers or Caps message board in his early years without seeing "Secondary Sid" everywhere.

It's almost as bad a "Tertiary Tom" back when the league handed out 3 assists per goal.
