I hope he can carry that Penguins squad to the playoffs, still wanna see Sid on the big stage. The team around him needs to pick it up in a big way.

Sid is still an elite 5vs5 player.

Lemieux had 763 ES primary points in 915 games, so 0.83 per game. Quite a bit behind Gretzky, but well ahead of anyone else.

"Secondary Sid" is currently 12th all-time in primary points and 22nd all-time in secondary assists in the regular season. In the playoffs, he's 7th all-time in primary points, and T-13th in secondary assists.

The only players in NHL history who rank ahead of him on both lists (ie primary points in the RS and primary points in the postseason) are Gretzky and Messier.

It's hard to think of a disparaging nickname that's backfired more spectacularly.
