#87 Sidney Crosby Milestone Thread - History will be made: 20 consecutive PPG seasons

It'd take, at the very least, 4 seasons for him to get to 2k, but I'd wager 5.

I hope he does, had he not missed so much time due to concussions, he'd be a lock for it.
Would probably need 4 years more for 700 goals and 4 more for 2,000 points.

I don't think he stays for that long as it doesn't seem he cares too much about individual accomplishments.

He's done and won everything there was to win. IMHO he retires at the end of his current deal.

I see him retiring after the Olympics.

This is premature. What if he gets traded and plays 82+ games? There's technically nothing stopping him from playing 2 games most nights.

Passing Mario in points would be symbolic.

Passing Howe for most points for a single franchise/passing him overall would be fitting for a player whose regular season trophy case could have been as impressive if not for injuries.

And it would be even more fitting if he retired after the game that he matches Messier's point total of 1887

My bad on timelines.

Just thought fitting he’d go out on a high that year.
I could see Sid deciding to play a few more years after his current deal if the Pens somehow manage to land some legit prospects that he could mentor.

With a sweet little assist on the PP tonight:
  • 82 points moves him into a tie with Jean Beliveau for the 5th most ever in a season by a 37 year old. In 4th place is Jean Ratelle at 84 points.
  • His 11 game point streak is tied for the second most by a 37 or older player. The record is 12 games (shared by 4 players)

Honestly, a great run for him over the past few months.

After 12 goals in first 48 games.

17 goals in last 27 games. Pointless in only three games during that stretch. 12 game point streak overall.

Looks like he’s due to pick up his third 90 point season in a row and his ninth overall.

With his assist just now, he pulls into a tie with Hawerchuk and Dionne for second most 85+ point seasons with 12.

Edit: Make that 18 goals in his last 27 games.
