GDT: 800 vs 801 (Ovi vs Mr Hockey) 7 pm Dec 19

Figured there would be a bit of a lull after the hat trick but the damn will break as it always does. If someone was going to break an AO record as the Cap One Arena sometime in the future would not have a problem with it and would be a story that felt right.

It's funny to me how every team is taking this goal personally, like prevent Ovi from scoring at all cost type of thing.

Touché, and thanks for doing the work, and obviously not a good sign, but the other poster was complaining about his tenure with the Caps.

Yea, Ovi has the opportunity to be the greatest decoy in the history of the NHL (touch of hyperbole, lol) during these games.

He’ll get his goals, he always does, but I hope he and PL have said to the team, in some manner - stop with the cute sh*t trying to get me the record, and focus on winning games first.

This is what happens when your owner says that 895 is basically all he cares about.

No quarrel with anything you said, but ... if you are on the ice with Ovie @ 799, 800 or 801, wouldn't YOU want to feed him for one of those milestones? Sure, don't pass up an open net or try to thread the puck thru 2 or 3 opponents' sticks, but if a legitimate passing opportunity arises, most guys probably want to feed Ovie to get an assist on one of those noteworthy goals.

Well in this case it IS Detroit so they're doing it out of pride / respect for Howe.

For all the other teams they don't want to be immortalised as the team / goalie that is tied to breaking the record. Imagine what it will be like when he is 1 short of Gretzky!!
