How do you expect either of them to get in a rhythm when you're basically rotating them in every other game?
They are playing often enough that they should be in the rhythm even if you rotate them every other game.

Quinn is killing this team. Now it’s shesterkins turn to get effed with. Finally get a good game from the goalies and he goes to Georgiev tonight? Makes zero zero sense

I don't like the decision, but then again Shesty has never played more than like 60% of the games for any team in his career so far. A lot of splitting time in the KHL and AHL.

Maybe he's worried about throwing an accellerated workload at him too soon. You don't see many NHL goalies hitting even 65+ starts any more.

Gauthier deserves a chance to play. Unfortunately for him both Blackwell and PDG are producing and making things happen and with Chytil out we need Rooney to center the 4th line since Howden is shifted up. It sucks because Gauthier started the year doing good things and being noticeable and he’s still a good prospect who could be something, but I get why it’s happening for now.

I don’t like bouncing around the goalies so much. If they have a poor game, it’s a back to back, or they’ve played 3-4 in a row, it makes sense to rotate but I do believe we should be approaching it as Shesterkin is the #1 and we expect him to play ~35-40 of the 56 games. C’est la vie. If the team looks awake and motivated again tonight, I’ll be content either way. Neither of our goalies is bad or reduces our chances. I just believe that we need to be grooming Shesty into the #1 who plays a big workload and a short schedule is the perfect place to give him a taste of that.

Is Gauthier waiver exempt? Can they give him time in Hartford without losing his rights?

There arent 65 games for them to start this year though.

With how shaky the goalies have been this year, it would be better to get one of them consistent reps to work themselves out of their struggles. Rest days and everything else can be allocated later.

Factoid: The sleek penguin is known as the Robopenguin. Very '90s. I'm glad a lot of teams have gone back to their classic logos and jerseys, like the Flames, Pens, and Sens.
Robopenguin was so good. One of the few totally radical 90s redesigns that was actually good. I think it’s better than the classic ones they use now. But at least they got rid of those awful , awful “Vegas gold” sweaters

This happens way more than you'd think.

They've got a lot to manage, and they don't have the team TOI on their tablets as the highest priority.
The top-6 was also playing very well that game, so it's not a surprise that Quinn played them more in a game that they were dominating. This has been his MO for two years now, and I'm not sure people get continuously surprised when he does it.

I take it as a positive note that Quinn realizes Kakko is playing well and that he should get the bump in TOI he deserves in the near future. He already switched PP2 to have both Laf and Kakko on and said that they'll get deployed more. Now, the underlying issue is that Trouba will be manning this unit when it should be one of Fox or Tony, but I've already posted a bunch on that and am not diving into it more.

Sure. I think the short answer is that the 'playmaking' work on pp 2 will come from the side boards. Trouba's job won't be creative, he'll just be there to shoot the puck or move it along as required.

I like the idea of letting the goalies compete for Hank's job. No problem with Quinn here. It's up to the guys on the ice to bring it. That's the key.

how does a coach not realize this?

How doesn't he realize that one of his better players in that game only played 10 mins?

There's more to this because Kakko has played well this season and he's taking shots at him to the media as well.
