Who should it be?

Dommy
Dobby
Carlo
Marchand
Pasta

I go with Dommy. Reasons: 1) Made our 4th line dominant--hell, even relevant--again. This stabilization has been invaluable given the periodic struggles of the 2nd or 3rd lines. 2) close to 30 points 3) Tied for team lead in shortys 4) Brilliant offensive instincts of which I was unaware before watching him play this year. Speed to boot as well.

Also, a reminder of the award description for your convenience: "the Bruin who's performed above and beyond expectations"

I expected around 30 goals from Pasta and Marchand. Carlo started the season great, but has been inconsistent since the half-way point. Dommo came truly out of nowhere, and has been a real key player at times.

As much as he's tailed off, I think you give it to Carlo. Has made a huge impact on the defense being not nearly the dumpster fire it was last season.

A good argument can be made for both Marchand and Pastrnak however as both exceeded expectations.

I definitely didn't expect Carlo to be a solid defenseman for most games and to play every game. He's got my vote. Marchand went above and beyond as well, but putting up 90pts when I expected 75 doesn't win the 7th player in my book.

I'm with you there- as soon as Carlo made the team out of camp I expected him to play the season; not sure he's been above and beyond, just a real solid rookie season from a prospect that was expected to be good. Pasta to me was on the verge of this sort of season and another we looked to for a strong year. Moore was just a 4th line signing, aging vet, someone to add a little depth and experience, and he's been a key player for us all season, a little offense, great defense and PKilling. I expect he won't win the award but based on the description, he has to be the one who has most exceeded what anyone expected from him going in.

Too late in the process but Dobby deserves honorable mention.

Cassidy unlike Julien trusted him and it has paid off.

I have trouble not voting for the guy who's going to end the season around 40-90. Even with his season last year, I never expected him to be in the running for Art Ross, Rocket and Hart down the stretch. Obviously those are no longer realistic, but he is right up there.

He's going to end the season on PPG while playing all 82 games - we haven't had that in years. Can't look past that in my opinion.

Good points by a couple posters.

McQuaid and Kevan are quietly having great years.

The defense, as a whole, has made a lot of fans eat crow including myself. As a unit, they've taken a gigantic leap (or two) this season.

It will probably be Pasta/Marchy but I think it should be Moore's. Obviously 63 and 88 have exceeded expectations, but Marchy established himself as this team's key offensive cog last season, and a lot of us expected Pasta to break out. 11 goals (3 SH) and 25 points for a 4th liner is really good. He's an absolute monster on the PK. I expected Moore to sit out a few games here and there, and not really make much of an impact, a Gregory Campbell replacement. He's been a whole lot more than that, and I hope he's back next year. We need to improve our bottom-6 and I think he's a fantastic center for the 4th line. With Clode gone we don't have to worry about him being promoted to the 1st line.

I would be fine with any of them. Carlo, like others have said, has been pretty good, but very inconsistent. All in all, great season for a 19 year old. Khudobin has been fantastic down the stretch but we can't forget the 3/5ths of the season where he couldn't win a damn game... His save percentage is still right around .900. Very glad Cassidy could turn him around but I can't justify it.

I don't think they make the playoffs with Julien, either.

But it has nothing to do with trusting Khudobin. Considering Dobby didn't win a game this year until Julien was gone, why would he trust him? A case could be made that he salvaged his NHL career & the Bruins season with his performance against the Islanders. With his highlight reel win today he got his save percentage over .900 for the first time this season.

Jimmy Hayes actually exceeded my expectations. No way I expected him to stick around the entire season. Thought he'd be in Siberia by now.

I can't wait for the reaction of the poor fan that gets the shirt off his back. It may be Caron-level cringe worthy

 I forget what player it was, it might have been Joe Corvo or something... But I remember someone gave the camera the biggest stink-eye when they pulled out the name.

I really do feel bad for the guy. As exciting as it is to play in your hometown, he's just been... AWFUL. There must be no worse feeling in the world. He must want to get out of here 100x more than we want him gone.

It's a good sign for a team, and the season it's having, to have so many qualified candidates for the 7th player. I voted Carlo because he came out of nowhere and played a solid shut down role (with Z's mentorship) which was unexpected.

I wouldn't be disappointed if DoMo won. He deserves it too, as described by posters above. But I'm convinced it will be the more popular Marchand or Pastrnak. Although totally not unexpected, they did have improved seasons after last year.

If it's not one of these guys, I'll be shocked. Carlo making the team has been a great surprise, but his play has been way too inconsistent to take a trophy like this home in his rookie year.

I don't know, he's been pretty good all year playing some pretty tough minutes. He's also breathed new life into Chara this year.

I wouldn't mind seeing Moore get it, he's been the probably the best player on that bottom 6 all season.

It's a popularity contest, so Marchand or Pasta.

Carlo should win it
