Well, they want to increase goal scoring but not allow everything off the skates for safety reasons. The league is taking advantage of the slack on so-called redirects.

Both definitely improvements over the current system. Then again so would be a coin flip.

Then we'll have HFBoards always debate whether or not the skate was actually off the ground. It's much simpler to not allow goals that redirect off the skate, IMO.

I don't really know how some on here can actually defend that.
The rule against us is that if the skate moves after the puck kicks it, it's a good goal.
But when our player does it, it's somehow a no goal.

Well, a skate off the ice is pretty easy to see. And you still allow more goals yet disallow players dangerously taking skates off the ice. It's a win-win.

Well that's a cop out.
What the hell is a kick? It looks like Toronto has no standards by which to determine that.
Also, it was called a goal on the ice. That was not enough of a kick to warrant overturning that call.

I thought up "allow kick goals outside the crease, don't allow them inside" and it makes sorta-sense. That one at least looked like a kicking motion (IMO) but there are a ton of 50-50s that it looks like they just flip a coin on.

There have already been massive debates about whether or not a player left their skates to make a hit/during a hit/whatever, there would be the same debates to whether or not a player lifted their skate 1mm off the ice and would that constitute "lifting their skate" etcetc. It should be all or nothing. Anything more than that is too complicated for the league.

As far as I am concerned, this league has been screwing us over more than other teams since Dolan rebelled against Bettman w/r/t control of the team websites.

I'll take anything over the garbage we have now. Coin flip, dice rolling, Rock Paper Scissors between the two captains. Really, anything would be better.
