Well feels kinda late… single digit games remaining when we are mathematically eliminated?

Screw it hang the banner

I’d like to see us run

Gauthier carlsson terry
Zegras mctavish colangelo
Vatrano strome killorn
Nesterenko harkins lundy

Lacombe helleson
Zelly trouba
Minty moore

let gudas watch and think about how awful he’s been

You’re a very charitable man making him stop in BC. Keep going all the way til you hit Alaska, Greg!
Maybe this isn’t a far-fetched as one would think haha. Didn’t he drive all the way to the east coast to meet up with some players before 23/24? I seem to remember him saying he drove from Colorado to California as well or something.

I thought this chart would be worse.

That was tough. The talent on the team is clear. Individual players show off in different moments throughout every game, but the problems are the same every time: win or lose. They do not have structure, cannot defend, struggle to exit the zone, fold under pressure, can't sustain offensive time, can't function on the power play, and rely too much on incredible goaltending to name a few issues.

The biggest issue with the team is coaching. It has been the largest problem for awhile. The stats and eye test match. Broadcasters, insiders, and journalists have questioned the coaching staff and their decisions all season. Players have publicly spoken about issues multiple times. It is time. This cannot continue beyond this season. The coaching staff is the problem.

Unfortunately, us having more points this season will likely be enough justification to stay the course. I still think Rich Clune must be fired. Like I said it about Cronin before but if Clune is still with this team next season, it is professional negligence on Verbeek's part. You cannot watch this powerplay for 75 games and not see the atrocity. Maybe the team is not talented enough to be a top half powerplay, but we're not even a bottom fourth of the league type powerplay. We're a decimal numeral off from last place and the eye test is even worse. There's fundamental failure all around in how this team approaches the powerplay and the same issues are too common to blame it on the players at this point. Static 5 man set up, slow and often inaccurate passes, no identifiable rotation plays that are actually effective at disrupting the PK structure, piss poor entries, slow recoveries, shit faceoff percentage. Every single thing about the powerplay is a f***ing failure but the worst of all, that I didn't mention as part of that list, is that the powerplay actually kills this team's momentum nearly every time they get one. That is not normal. Even an average team you might see some situations where a successful PK might give the opponent momentum, but other times the extra offensive chances on the powerplay charges up a team even if they didn't score. This team looks like they have to mentally recover from powerplays.

We fired Newell Brown and hired Newell Brown with better hair to replace him.

First game of the year and almost hit the Ducks bingo.

Get scored on in the first minute on an egregious defensive error
Lots of high danger scoring chances against
Get manhandled
Awful special teams / short handed goal against
Gibson leaves the game early
Strome, terry, and vatrano 🤮 Strome and Vatrano particularly turned the puck over quite a few times

The bench was quiet, no one was having fun. During the warm up the ducks were peppy and enjoying themselves tho. I wanna forget about this game please

It’s really crazy how often he does it. He must have read a “Hockey for Dummies” book that listed that strategy.
He's making the other team over confident so we can catch them off guard! Problem is we don't know how to do the second part that well yet.

(Btw I'm kidding, I don't actually think that's his real strategy, please no one correct me with an essay about hockey strategy that's 5 pages long that I'm not going to read)

spot on

but i would scrutinize Terry more. He's been killing us. Something is up. He had a shift last night where he turned the puck over twice when the team had numbers

I'm gonna start calling these teams the 'big 4': Calgary, LA, STL, and DC. We've done just woefully against them just year. I think we have 3 points against all of them in a combined 11 games. Something in particular that's struck me as well is how stifled Zegs, Carlsson and Mctavish seem to be against them and the stats kind of back it up. Now everyone else in the lineup is getting smothered as well but these are our most skilled players.

Zegs: 1 point in 8 games
Leo: 2 points in 10 games
Mctavish: 4 points in 11 games.
