Agreed. I really like Kreider's skill set, but he is a dumb hockey player who takes bad penalties/careless plays. Definitely one of the lowest hockey IQs on the team.

If he had Stepans IQ, with his athleticism, he'd be a rock solid top-6 forward. If only we can merge them somehow...

Stupid penalties, out of position a lot, misreads defenses, doesn't know when to shoot or pass, etc. Kreider is just not a smart player. I like the kid. I'm glad he's on the team. I wouldn't trade him for much out there.

I've never seen Kreider take a game off. Lazy he is not.

If you have not seen him take whole games where he did not use his physical presence you are not paying attention. Even if he is not scoring he should be a physical force every single game and he ain't.

Hockey IQ isn't something that generally improves much over time. Most guys who don't have it never have it.

The biggest problem has not been a mistake by Kreider or his hockey intelligence/lack there of, it has been PHX 30 face off wins to our 14. That is a huge problem.
