Outside of the trade its been an incredibly dissapointing day. I just dont understand the mind set, why not swing on a few players. Colorado always comes in and picks up these guys late (foudy) and then we wonder what happened.

Dorion can boast about a lot more than that when it comes to his drafting. Asset management yes, drafting however was well above average and thank god for that.

Pretty sure on Gatineau radio he said he was heavily involved with first round picks and high second round and that after that it was the scouts. He also said "But he wasn't involved in the Boucher pick." And we all know that Mann picked Pinto. Anything good Dorion did was an accident. The man is a buffoon. My french is rough, but his is brutal.

He was GM of a team that drafted wabove average during his tenure. Whether we like it or not he gets the credit, that's how it works. He was a buffoon yes, but by and large drafting wasn't the problem.

If you were assigned to do an honest and unbiased post mortem on the team between 2016 and 2023, that is the conclusion you would come to. I realize that's not easy for some people to do because of the trauma.

Somebody ran the numbers a few months ago and drafting was below average.

When not selecting the consensus guy on Bob's list (Stutzle, Tkachuk) Dorion's drafting in the 1st round was hit and miss at best.

Sanderson was a great pick. Arguably the consensus at 5 giving how much he was rising up the rankings but they could have opted for Drysdale or even reached for the "local guy" whether it be Quinn or Rossi.

Greig was also a solid selection. Peterka obviously would have been better but nothing wrong with getting a solid 3rd line guy out of a late 1st.

Bowers, JBD, Thomson and Boucher, on the other hand, were awful selections.

Definitely not a track record worth praising.

Obviously it still happened, so it worked out, but it's crazy to think how much of a guaranteed failure the rebuild would have been without that. Like, not even close to competitive. It still was a disaster because of his long list of poor transactions, but that one really saved their bacon. Thankfully he's gone now and the franchise is a serious organization for the first time in a long time.

Without them we would be a below average team. I still can’t believe Dorion kept his job for so long. Every draft they took a relatively high pick and wasted it on someone expected to go late in the second round.

Dorion’s face and voice bothered me almost as much as his f*cking stupidity.
