Outside of the trade its been an incredibly dissapointing day. I just dont understand the mind set, why not swing on a few players. Colorado always comes in and picks up these guys late (foudy) and then we wonder what happened.
What a guy, so confident and cocky despite this fantastic record, basically everywhere you look. If only we drafted like Colorado , right..

That’s a No-Name list, absolutely horrendous, Sakic sucks lol.

Meanwhile, the guy he fleeced, our ex-GM The Duhrion, can boast about one thing, and that’s the 2020 draft that him and his team of scouts picked. Merilainen looks to be a steal thus far.

Feeling very optimistic that we have management that won't trade him for a short fix. We've drafted and partially developed so many goalies that have become starters on other teams. Its nice to feel confident that we get to keep a guy for once

Still devastated with Seattle taking Daccord from us.

even when we had Lehner Bishop and Andy? and completely f***ed it.

I would say this kid is the next Saros/Rinne/Rask.

I agree. My username might finally get a change.

Dorion can boast about a lot more than that when it comes to his drafting. Asset management yes, drafting however was well above average and thank god for that.

Pretty sure on Gatineau radio he said he was heavily involved with first round picks and high second round and that after that it was the scouts. He also said "But he wasn't involved in the Boucher pick." And we all know that Mann picked Pinto. Anything good Dorion did was an accident. The man is a buffoon. My french is rough, but his is brutal.

He was GM of a team that drafted wabove average during his tenure. Whether we like it or not he gets the credit, that's how it works. He was a buffoon yes, but by and large drafting wasn't the problem.

If you were assigned to do an honest and unbiased post mortem on the team between 2016 and 2023, that is the conclusion you would come to. I realize that's not easy for some people to do because of the trauma.

Here is a good article describing Dorion's tenure:
A narrow functional orientation is a limited focus on one type of work, which can lead to career issues. It can also be characterized by over-reliance on strengths, avoiding new areas, and ignoring flaws.

Signs of a narrow functional orientation Over-reliance on strengths, Ignoring flaws, Avoiding untested areas, and Focusing on just one type of work.
