Looks like a loss
You look at the rosters. You look at the discipline and how streamlined Calgary’s roster is. No surprise. It should be a loss. Some teams are better than others. No shame in that.

What is embarrassing, however, are the careless mistakes and lack of concentration. Some seriously brain dead decisions on our part.

Blais is a sneaky good passer. Kid should go on the Panarin line yesterday.

Chytil just doesn’t do it for me. Never has, but with his EV production (albeit in a limited role with limited matchups) and everyone’s rare optimism when it comes to him, I’ve mostly kept it to myself. I just am not seeing it though.

I think I’d much prefer Jones over Lundkvist, despite the handedness. Jones has more poise and more creativity. We seem like we could use it. Nils is very safe right now, which is fine, but we could use another unexpected offense generator like Blais. If the big guns aren’t going to get it done, we need it from other places.
I would prefer Jones to two of the guys on our left side too, but the Rangers love their "max two defenseman who have skill" rule.

Its not just against this team, it seems like an ongoing problem with every team we play against. We cant generate offense because of the slow puck moving.

Fully agree with this. The team doesn’t look unified. It looks like 20 players just skating around.

Too much laziness in the top 6 is the problem.
This is truly a problem. If anyone is wondering about the disparity between teams like the Flames or Isles who always have sticks and bodies in the way and are always buzzing around the puck and teams like the Rangers, it's work ethic. You could have all the talent in the world on paper, doesn't mean anything if you never have the puck because you are constantly turning it over or are pinned in your zone.

Zibanejad is a great penalty killer.

When you see how engaged he is on the PK, it makes me think he's not unwilling or unable.

His assignments have just been too easy for too long and he has bad habits.
Kinda makes it wonder how long does it take for Gallant to nip those habits. Gallant should be the coach for that, so how long does it take. And the same goes for Panarin and Strome.

I guess we can look at it more when we hit say the 20 game mark.

I think Kakko is a far better player than Laf. Kakko is a far better player than our organization seems to think. He was made for that PP halfwall.
