That was my first thought as well. Hope everyone enjoyed their short vacation to Buffalo. Wonder when they will be able to fly back to Raleigh? Buffalo Niagara International is currently closed.
looking at both schedules, literally the only date I see open is 2/25.
and the first niagara center is available that night.
If it's not that night, they will have to tack it on to the end of the season.
They'll probably move other games around to make it fit.
Last season the sabres/bruins had a game postponed due to the marathon bombing. They rescheduled the game for a day the sabres were meant to play the penguins, and moved the sabres/penguins game to another day later that week.
I don't want to come off as insensitive, but this is why it makes no sense to me to call the game off. I realize there's a safety issue for fans, and it's not really fair for them. But the Canes traveled to Buffalo. The officials traveled to Buffalo. The Sabres are in Buffalo. So now those three groups are just gonna sit around and do nothing all night for no real reason. Why not, I dunno, play the game that is ONLY the reason those three groups are in Buffalo anyhow?
The logistics of making up the game later are a huge headache. Playing it tomorrow doesn't make any sense. Are things going to be *better* tomorrow?
And the Canes *still* have to get back to Raleigh at some point for a game on Thursday.
Not playing the game tonight helps none of that. All it does is keep the 20 idiots off the road who want to say they were the only 20 people at an NHL game the night they got eight feet of snow. And those idiots will probably kill themselves drunk snowmobiling later tonight anyhow.
