The Bruin's savior was born on this day, and his initials were placed on the front of his Jersey even before he was born. :bruins

My favorite all-time athlete in any sport, and "pure class" on or off the ice, and IMHO the Best hockey player to ever lace up a pair of skates.

Hard to believe he's nearly 70....sure doesn't look it.

I don`t have tons of regrets but man do I wish I was old enough to have watched him play. I was alive when he was playing but wasn`t at the age to understand the game nor was the TV coverage as vibrant as it is now. That said, disgusting I have to stream tonight`s tilt with all the channels available, rrg

Happy Birthday Mr Orr

Orr was like a futuristic player brought back by Doc Brown in the DeLorean.

Orr had all the edging & power skating with an elite gunslingers hands and the highest hockey sense ever seen

I got to see three seasons of Bobby in Boston, well 2 seasons and 10 games. The reason I am a hockey fan. The greatest hockey player of all time. Was fortunate enough to meet him twice and he is as great a person as player.

I still get chills thinking back. 2 players brought me to the edge of my seat on every shift, and for very different reasons. Bobby Orr and Terry O'Reilly. And a couple of years after Orr's departure, along came Ray Bourque-who, I thought, stunk in comparison. Took awhile to appreciate that no one was coming to take his place, and accept Bourque for the excellent player he was.

Bobby was a sight to see. One good thing about being old is I got to watch him play .

I didn't have ST then but got to a few games.

He is such a gentleman

Here's to being old! I saw Bobby a few times in Montreal at the old Forum (was sitting near the boards when Larry Robinson nailed him with a huge check). What a talent! And what a privilege to have seen him! The irony is that while his knees aged prematurely, the rest of him looks pretty damn good to this day. He still looks like the Bobby Orr we all knew and loved.

Happy Birthday, Bobby!

Happy Birthday Mr Orr

About a month ago someone on the History of Hockey site posted about 3 hours of Bobby Orr "highlights".
