Prospect Info: #69(nice)OA - Hurricanes select LHD Alexander Nikishin (Spartak - KHL)

Fair, but that would entail running all the way from Western Blvd, across campus, to Hillsborough St.

Which I would not advise after eating at the aforementioned 4 restaurants.

But seriously, I am tempted to tell some impressionable NC State students that hitting up McDonald’s-Bojangles-Popeyes-Cook Out in a single run within a time limit is a tradition and something they should all do once. Even better if they think it needs to be at a specific date and time, so we can watch flocks of college students staggering down Western trying to hold down that last quesadilla.

I used to work in the NCSU archives, so I'm sure I can get someone to plant some "historical" documents proving this. Put it in there next to the Pirate Captain Stu-G President stories, for fun.

WTF: Demidov is done first.....must be some Canadian timber going back to SKA for that to happen:

edit: I'd add that Milstein is Demidov's agent which probably means more connections in Russia.

Sounds like it is a matter of time, and he'll definitely be here next year. But the longer it drags on with Demidov signed and Nikishin not signed will drag all the 'Dundon cheap' commentators out of the woodwork, no doubt.

I kinda think it's funny Demidov went first and watching our fans freak out. I'm sure everything will be fine.
Given Nikishin's dedication to SKA quite frankly I'm surprised they didn't let him go first. OTH, perhaps they are trying to convince him to stay and/or as I mentioned Milstein's RU connections surely meant he knew the "right" buttons to hit....

And now Demidov is officially signed. They got that done in an hour. What excuse is there for the Borg not being able to do the same?

Rotenberg just finished his interview with local sports radio in Montreal. It was mentioned to him that SKA will lose 3 key players for next year (Gritsiuk, Demidov and Nikishin). Rotenberg agreed. It's a matter of time before we get our own king.

Edit: and then the @Hasbullacane guy on X says SKA and Hurricanes have come up with an agreement... Nikishin joining us in the coming days.

I don't know but worth pointing out it's not apples to apples here. As mentioned above the players have different agents, the teams negotiate separately with SKA, and VISA situations could be different with US and Canada. Should get done in the next couple days.

Also in other news SKA and Kuznetsov are parting ways despite signing a 4 year contract after we let him go. I didn't follow him closely this year so I wonder if it's him just not caring much about hockey any more or if he wants to try to go back to the NHL. I don't think he'd be eligible to play for any team this year.

Sorry to hear about Kuzy....that penalty shot goal was a first round highlight. Hopefully, he hasn't gone back to his off ice issues.

I mean, if Nikishin wants to come over, he's the guy getting punished by SKA right now.

I'm sure we'd love to have him for a playoff run but given the way Rod uses new & young guys I can't imagine him being more than a role player for the playoff run.

Meanwhile, if SKA decides to draw the line in the sand, we get Nikishin for an extra year on the ELC.

So really it should be Nikishin being the most pissed about all of this.
