Anyone who reads through my posts in this thread won’t be surprised by what I’m about to say, but I would seriously consider handing him an 8 year contract this summer at a considerable AAV discount. Would be a risk of course but one that could seriously pay off. 8x6.5 or somethingCorrect. He'd be eligible for an extension this Summer, though. Wouldn't that be the outside the box move to end all...
I agree, roll the dice just like the Milwaukee Brewers did with Jackson Chourio. They did a 10 year contract based on potential. Right now it’s really paying off. Just protect him from offer sheets and the other teams.Anyone who reads through my posts in this thread won’t be surprised by what I’m about to say, but I would seriously consider handing him an 8 year contract this summer at a considerable AAV discount. this sounds like the beginning of a Billy Joel songIt’s mid afternoon in St. Petersburg.
they also popped in to Nikishin's prospect thread to make it about Hutson, lol.Habs fans trying to hijack the main board thread tarheel made for Nikishin, just like they took over that Svechnikov trade board thread. I hope that self righteous main character syndrome fan base never sees another season of glory for the rest of their life times.

Jesus what a bunch of children. "Hey look, I've got a new toy!" "Huh. The one I'm getting this summer is clearly better, and other ones still to be built are even better. Go away."
"Does Nikishin actually want to play in NA?"I'm curious. Does Nikishin actually want to play in NA? Nothing has showed me he doesn't, I'm just surprised that we're sitting here wondering if he'll sign to come over this year. I know he plays for the president's team, and the loyalty to country there rivals anywhere in the world. I'm wondering why He makes himself eligible to be drafted, but signs extensions to stay previously, etc. I'm just ready to see this kid.
I don't think players have a choice of whether or not to be drafted? Like I don't think they sign-up to be drafted (otherwise everyone would just wait until their 20 and sign with a team of their own choosing), it's just a pool of eligible players and NHL teams get to choose "NHL rights" to those players.I'm curious. What would the benefit be for SKA if they didn’t cut him loose today? Surely that’s just a petty punishment for a player who has gone above and beyond for their club?

Demidov hasn't done anywhere near the same amount of time in service. I wouldn't be surprised they try to pressure him into signing an extension
This is what I was wondering. Makes sense. thank you.I don't think players have a choice of whether or not to be drafted? correct. Used to be the case where NCAA players (and NCAA-bound players) had to opt-in for their first year of draft eligibility (Paul Stastny didn't make himself eligible for the 04 draft for example) and Euro players well into their 20s were still draft eligible (Wallin and Johan Franzen were both 24 when drafted). That changed with the 05 CBA.I don't think players have a choice of whether or not to be drafted?
