The disappointment comes from him getting outplayed by the opposing goalie EVERY. SINGLE. GAME.

When the opposing goalie looks great EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. Maybe you blame the guys who take the shots? When you constantly out shoot the opposition but can't score, you either shoot from bad positions or you shoot poorly.

Cool. So, at 8.5M, Hank should be one of the "very few" who stops that.

Instead, he's been consistently outplayed over a large part of this season.

One of the more ignorant statements from you. You're a smart guy. Henrik is a human being. You don't have time to react to a shot of that velocity from that close. You instinctually react to the general direction.

It's one thing missing on a shot from the point that you see with no traffic and it just goes right by you and another to get beat like that.

The amount of money he makes doesn't change the fact that NHL PLAYERS ARE GOING TO SCORE GOALS.

Are you serious? Hahahaha.

He has been disappointing over the course of the season, but one shot - let alone one great shot - doesn't say anything at all, really.

This team rides or dies with Nash and Lundqvist. If those guys get hot at the same time we can take four games from anyone.

Haven't been able to catch the game - what are the lines looking like for the most part right now? Are we still seeing Hagelin - Richards - MSL ? Or who is playing with MSL now? What about Hagelin?

Your post would make sense if Hank was playing like he was prior to this season.

He's not, however.

His past play is meaningless. He's been very mediocre this year and not stopping the shots he has in the past. And we're paying him a lot more money.

Wake me when he starts playing like an 8.5M player.

But... but... they are legit contenders!

Even Stanley Cup winners have games where they get blown out. Even cup winners lose 30+ games in a season. Obviously it's about consistency and since this currently constructed NYR unit post-trade has only played 1 game and 1 period it's not a big enough sample size to make judgments. Of course your opinion is more than valid just as the opinion that this team is a legit contender. It's a matter of either the big time players showing up or choking. You are banking on them choking. which I think is actually the more logical choice even though I acknowledge the talent is there to win it all. All that means is I refuse to entertain whining and excuses if this team loses. If they lose it's b/c they failed and not because of an inherent disadvantage. I don't feel it's necessary to make excuses for this current group of players.

I cant believe stepan has been this bad. Back in October i knew the holdout would affect him for a few weeks but i didnt think it would be this bad. Most of his points are secondary assists. he has no speed his passing has been bad and he is aeak on the puck

The problem for the Rangers is that they manage to keep the puck in the opponent's zone but don't generate top notch scoring opportunities. As has been the case recently, the Rangers dominate but the other team gets the best opportunity of the period and capitalizes.

Ok, then why don't the Rangers, and why do opposing goaltenders look like Ken Dryden, Patrick Roy, and Domink Hasek rolled into one?

Yes. I want out superstar goalie to occasionally make a save on an unstoppable shot. Something he did routinely before he got his paycheck. Is it that difficult to understand?

And it's absolutely true that Hank has been outplayed a lot of the season. Early on and now post-break. He had a very good run in the middle.
I would be more worried about our skaters not being able to net the puck with 4-5 quality chances.

Hank is paid to be elite and win games for his team. We dominate the period and hes unable to come up with the big save and we are down again, we are chasing again, and in serious danger of losing.

While not a soft goal, he was once again outplayed by the goalie on the other end of the ice.

Whatever. 40 minutes to go. It's not like they're down 4-0, they can still easily turn this around.

Lets go Rangers!

Exactly. This is far too regular.

First of all, his 8.5m contract doesn't kick in until next season. He makes 5.1 this year.

Second, every goalie in the league has bad seasons. Roy had a couple .906% seasons. Hasek had some .909% seasons. Brodeur had some .906% seasons.

Has he been as good as he has been throughout his career? Definitely not. He definitely doesn't deserve near the amount of blame he receives on these boards. He was back to his usual self for the last 2 months leading up to the break and he will get back up there again.

When MZA plays Dorsett sits. JT Miller needs to play either in Hartford or the NHL. If they call him up, they're not sitting him on the bench. The only way we see him again is if an offensive top-9 player gets hurt.

The lack of true No.1 and No.2 centres are killing this team. Stepan - on paper - is a 2nd liner, Richards - at this stage of his career - max. 3rd line. Disgusting.

And we will never have a young top number one center. Keep giving this high draft picks away sather

Yes, I've been saying this for a while. It's not quantity, it's quality. There's something to be said for getting the puck on net, but the Rangers are simply not generating quality chances. People get so caught up with the other making 20 saves in a period or 40 saves in a game but you can make 40 saves in a game and not get really challenged a lot or you can make 20 saves in a game and have to stand on your head.

ROFL at the Staal goal being a softie. Hank needs to be better, but that was a defensive error, not Hank's fault.
