Yes and no the guys he brought in like Roslovic Robinson carrier ghost walker have been good. Where they went wrong is believing the goaltending they had was good enough or even reliable should of moved on from Freddie

Yeah, unless something turns around in the next few weeks, this team should NOT be buyers at the deadline, unless we can steal someone a la Viktor Rask style.

Biggest takeaway for me is how national hockey media knows zip about this team. Every time the Canes get talked about,--be it TNT, NHLN, Sirius XM--it's the same bingo-card talking points: "Rod will have these guys ready" and "They'll come out hard" etc etc. Also, I see now why Gretzky failed as a coach, when he watches the first two periods and can only say "The Canes have a powerful offense."

It was an interesting little oddity. Fans throwing hats for a guy who didn’t get credited with a goal because he never touched the puck before being fouled causing an awarded goal to be credited to a different player.

Anyone with half a brain could have seen that coming a guy who’s 35 coming off seasons where he played 16 and 34 games. Last time he played 60 games was 2018 he shows every year he’s not reliable

I would have kept Skjei out of everyone who left aside from Guentzel. Noesen is replaceable you can find similar types of guys every year for half the cost

The gamble was that Martin wouldn’t be ass and/or Pyotr was ready to be a full time #1. Freddie was under contract and they were going to get whatever they could out of him.

Noesen was the first guy we had in a while that actively drove the net, and we now have that part of our game missing with him gone. We say that is easy to replace but we have a real hard time doing it.

The problem is we keep letting guys like that go. McGinn, Foegle, Lorentz, Noesen, etc. We signed Carrier and Robinson to be those kind of guys, but Carrier isn’t healthy and Robinson doesn’t do it consistently.

It also probably doesn’t help that when we DO crash the net, it gets challenged and overturned for GI, even when it shouldn’t be.

Yeah I'm kind of thinking we need to do something big to shake up the core. Too much complacency, we need a swing big deal for a guy with legitimate term, even if that means trading one of our core guys
