It’s become a real problem this year that they’re “sleeping” too often. Obviously, there’s a disconnect between Rod and the players right now, because no Rod-coached team should EVER be “sleeping” as often as the team has this year.

They’re going to f*** around, find out, and get Rod fired.
When goaltending is sub-par it sucks the life out of a squad’s mojo. Canes goaltending has been meh giving up softie goals since Freddie went down (pyotr was looked on by many on this board that he just needed some experience to be a true number one….well, not this year, perhaps never).

Add to it, the core of this team have gone through their proving years and perhaps understand the need to pace themselves for playoffs. Also, Team probably recognizes first is impossible right now and why push it. FWIW: Many teams seem to be in the funk too.

Off to listen to music!!!

I agree Rod isn’t the issue. But when you’ve got Svech at 4 more years at $7.5, Aho at 7 more years at $9.75, and Jarvis at 7 more years at $7.5 and all of them appear to have gotten too comfortable and no longer appear to want to “Run through a wall for Rod”, then what do you do?
Wouldn’t go that far it’s a Wednesday night in the middle of the season in Buffalo was a slow start but they picked it up near the end.

Like...eww!

With all the talk about how he's seemingly been losing passion for the game this year, I wonder if a different physiological intervention is needed. Find some way to make hockey less of a high stakes job and more like a game for him again- maybe seeing if you can arrange for him to do something like coach youth hockey practices twice a week. Get him with the 10 year olds just out there having a blast. Or maybe find a way for him to take some personal time away from the game entirely, though he'll be doing that over the 4 nations break.

I dunno. Send a message scratches are likely to just put him in a worse mood, not motivate him.
This is where I thought you were going

That outta loosen Svech up.

I think they'll come out on fire and win this game, but I still think a trade shake up is necessary and I feel it'll be Necas

Trade one of them.

Trading Aho or Jarvis after they just signed a new deal is unlikely. And trading Svech is a possibility, but with how he’s played this year, we’d be selling low. Not to mention we’re hurting for Top 6 forwards in the first place.

Stop embarrassing yourself. Holy shit.

I’m saying what needs to be said. It wouldn’t be the first time that the star players tuning out a coach has led to the coach being fired. Remember Eric Staal’s performance back in 2011? 5 points in his first 16 games, ending with a 7 game pointless streak. Maurice gets fired after the 16th game, Muller is hired. Eric then puts up 65 points in the remaining 66 games.

Was it Maurice’s fault? Not at all. Obviously, we know Maurice is a very good coach. But when a star player decides he no longer wants to play for a coach, they’re the ones that get the axe, more often than not.

Not saying that’s the case here, but the lackadaisical attitude we’re seeing from our star players this year is a vast difference from what we’ve seen in years past. For many years, you could count the number of times the team “Didn’t show up” to games on one hand. This year? It’s like once a week.

I'm not a huge fan of the Tulsky love fest yet. If he's as good as everyone said how did Chris Patrick run circles around him and get a decrepit Capitals team to the top of the division?

Waddell seems to be helping with a bit of a Renaissance in Columbus. Monahan >>>> Kotkaniemi ...who looks worse than a 35 year old Eric Staal and I bet couldn't outscore Suzuki in the AHL. I'd waive his ass and give Suzuki a shot at this point. I doubt he could be worse.

Roslovic is somehow our leading goal scorer?!

He recently had an interview with the local news where he said his biggest concern was wrecking the locker room with all the changes. While an important factor, I found that interesting instead of other concerns. He mentioned the importance in finding players to fit Rod's criteria.

Monahan signed in Columbus explicitly to play with his best friend. Waddell had nothing to do with it, he was recruited there by Johnny G.

Koko is definitely a dud at this point, but he's still better than any of our AHL options. I do think we need to trade him, but it has to be part of a deal for a center, and obviously we need a center better than he is, which requires other assets.

And hey, Roslovic being our leading goal scorer is a point in Tulsky's favor. The guys he's brought in have performed well.Roslo has been great, Robinson has been great, Ghost has been great, Walker has been fine in his role. It's the incumbents who have largely been the problem.

So worried about keeping the culture we forgot to bring in talent

As bad as KK is, it's frustrating he's one of the only ones who will step up and protect guys when they get run. Everyone else just skates away like nothing happened
