Great period, now don't mess it up! I want to see a win when I wake up again!

Now THAT was a good period. Not that trash in the first that for some reason people thought was a good period.

he looks better than his 11-12 campaign so far

Definitely. People keep bringing up 11-12 Richie, but anyone who watched him a lot pre-concussion knows 11-12 Richie want even close to what he was. His play was camouflaged by a hot Rangers team and a Spring tear that was more in line with his pre-concussion play.

If Richards keeps playing like this and Hagelin - Stepan - Nash can provide what they provided last year, our top 6 is respectable.

Hagelin - Stepan - Nash
Richards - Brassard - Callahan

If we could roll that, plus a 3rd line getting approx 12 mins a night of

Kreider-Miller-Kristo

would people be ok with it?

Richie has looked great, real aggressive. Looking to shoot. Honestly, with the cap going up this year (most likely) it's going to be hard to buy him out.

They were feeling things out in the first period. This is a team that needs some confidence. Great time to play the full-of-holes Capitals. They never really change.

Every time Pouliot gets the puck, he either runs it into an opposing player and loses it, or he just gives it to them. And people are wondering why Zuccarello isn't producing. At least Zuccarello produces turnovers and forechecking with a ton of effort.

That was the best effort I've seen from them so far. They need to play like that every period, every game.

Even assuming these guys were all ready and you wanted to play three rookies together, this really does not comport with the cornerstone of AV's coaching--zone starting. He is going to utilize a line for defensive purposes so that his top two lines see primarily offensive zone starts. Neither that Stepan line nor that Brassard line is designed to eat those defensive zone starts, which leaves you needing to build such a line.
