Will there even be an opening for him? Kupari, JAD, Sutter, Akil Thomas will come up, does Dudas go back for an over age year, is Tyler Madden going back to college after being a top 5 in pts/game?

I know they will do whats best for his development (make room if needed) but thats a lot of players that will need ice time

If Turcotte wants to go pro, they're not going to stop their fifth overall pick. They'll make room.

Schaller, Grundstrom, Rempal, Eyssimont, Imama, and Luff all have expiring contracts. I would expect both Schaller and Imama to go their own separate ways and Grundstrom will likely be brought up to the NHL. So that makes 3 open spots.

Then there's Blaine Byron, Lance Bouma, Michael Spacek, Jacob Doty, and Giovanni Fiore. I don't know their contract status, but I doubt all of them will return.

Agree, if Turcotte wants to go pro, they will welcome him with open arms. Space is not a problem. You can add Rempal onto the list of possibly moving on. Grundy is not waiver-exempt, he'll be on the Kings. Byron, Bouma, Doty, Sutter and Stanton's AHL contract all expire. Stothers will want a few of them back, or other AHL vets. Going with all kids is not a wise option no matter how good people think these players may be. A recipe for failure at the AHL level. Fiore is on a PTO. Spacek is just temporarily loaned to the Reign, he belongs to Winnipeg. So again, lots of new talent, hopefully with a good balance of vets than can contribute. You also might see the Kings sign another tweener they think will pass through waivers, like Frk and M. Kempe this past season.

Extensive behind the scene look at Wisconsin Hockey here. Of note in the comments section. When a subscriber asked the author (Scott Wheeler) if Turcotte, Miller and Caufield will turn pro after this season. The answer from Wheeler was:

All three told me they would like to. Whether their teams agree is a different story. They begin their playoffs this weekend with a three-game series against Ohio State and they will all look to sign as early as Monday if they're eliminated.

I can't imagine the Kings telling Turcotte to stay if he wants to turn pro. Regardless of the merits of college hockey for development, if he come here and signs they have complete control.

If he were to sign soon, I wonder if the arrangement would be to have him do a stint in the AHL then make his NHL debut in his de facto hometown of Chicago on March 29th.

Starting at 3rd line C despite putting up nearly 2 points/game the past couple weeks.

I think he signs, Fox mentioned on the broadcast that Lizzote has struggled getting used to the number of games coming out of college, I think this will be in the forefront of the kings minds and they would want to get him playing more next year

Turcotte has been real good his last few games. Hoping that Wisconsin goes on a decent run and Turcotte plays a key part.

The Mayor tweeted (about 30 min ago) that he expects Turcotte to turn pro when the badgers season is over

Maybe they're freeing him up to playoffense :dunno:

I think quite a few of those guys will leave Wisconsin this year. Atmosphere doesn't seem what they hoped, Granato might not be bad but doesn't seem to have any answers, development seems as hopeless/rudderless as the early season Reign, giving all the keys to star kids right away was just a disaster.

2-0 Ohio State with about 6 minutes left in the first. Hopefully they can mount another comeback a long way to go.

Say Turcotte signs with Kings when Wisconsin season ends. Then plays with Reign and gets couple games with Kings. My question is, will a summer of training in LA with the Kings development staff make him ready to play full time in the AHL next year?

Physically yes, but it’ll be his maturity and mentality that will be tested.
Being so close to the big club would be of great help as the FO would be on hand for a lot of his games... Hopefully Madden signs as well!

I don't see why not. He's certainly skilled enough with a high compete level. It's likely the best development path to the NHL. He'll get plenty of ice time and center one of the top two lines likely.

Yeah the Badgers are down 6-0 after 2 periods. I don't think they are coming up 2 with more wins after this one.
