I'm gonna say what needs to be said. The veterans are killing this team now. That includes Terry and Mac t.. if they are not scoring this team struggles.
we rely far too much on Vatrano being a volume shooter/scorer when he’s just not able to be that reliable

They did every single thing needed to lose a game against Chicago. Loose, turnover happy, and let special teams become a major factor, the only thing Chicago is respectable at.

If they played a grinding game and kept it 5v5 it's an easy win. Absolutely terrible execution in all facets of the game.

Disgraceful performance. Players have to own it also, but if Cronin gets his option picked up in the offseason (and he likely will), Verbeek is immediately squarely on the hot seat.
he’s absolutely getting his option picked. Sorry to rain on people’s parade, but there’s like a 95% chance Cronin is behind the bench in October at this point

Shoutout to the guy who was so fed up with this one he decided to just tear paper in his seat all game

What a letdown…. 6-2 against the worst team that also lost their top defenseman hours ago, on a celebratory 500th game for Gibson.

I guess this seals the deal on the season. Time to execute those trades that are on the table.

The worst thing is having Cronin just locking down his job for another half season through next year.

This one is on the players more than the coach. What is he going to do, only play 4-5 guys all night because the other 14 decided to have a few too many drinks celebrating Gibby and completely forgot how to skate, pass, forecheck, transition, defend...
Agreed. Our fourth line is ass, but they didn't turn over the puck a million times tonight, at least. Our best players played terribly.

We're still 6 points back. Vancouver lost.

losing to the worst team in the nhl is NOT part of the learning process. You have to get points against teams below you. The players esp the vets already know this . Wasted opportunity tonight
Actually, it is. This one is on the players. They didn't come in prepared; they were flat-footed, egregiously careless and not concentrating enough to make simple executions. This is one where you look in the mirror and tell yourself "If we want to be a playoff team, we can't take anything for granted." It;s one of those things you CAN learn a great deal from, IF you choose to learn the lesson.

Lol whos f***ing fault is that?

Stepping into the way way back machine here, but back when I played high school football, one week we came out very flat against a bad team. We won, but in terribly unconvincing fashion. Our coach ran us so hard that Saturday after film no one single soul loafed ever again.

Not saying Cronin needs to bag skate the team because he apparently already does so at inappropriate times, but my God, he just can't seem to press the right buttons. We play some good games and then we inexplicably seem to forget to play at all. Not the signs of a developing team.

Ducks blew a huge opportunity. Didn’t lose any ground but blew an opportunity to get closer to a WC spot since the teams above them all lost.
It’s just shitty to blow that Buffalo game and then turn on this performance against a not very good Chicago team.

Coach and team leaders need to be held accountable.

Arguably the most embarrassing/disappointing game of the season

Not having seen a couple of apparently good periods in the last game, to me, this is just more of the same. This is how we play. We turn the puck over in bad places and we defend poorly in our own zone. Our special teams are bad. Nothing especially egregious about last night except the timing of it.

It is funny though that the one time Cronin "knows" what the answer to a question is, it's that it's someone else's fault.
