Wait, did you add Stevenson as I was typing my response? The Black Flag drummer? Or, did I just have a senior moment? Anyway, from about 14-18ish I drummed a ton of Black Flag (and the Sex Pistols) in a band. I credit that early era with really building up my hand speed and stamina.

Yep! My roots are punk and blues (see avatar) although I only played guitars, so I felt like I had to add one. He went Descendents --> Black Flag --> Descendents if I recall correctly.

The timing of his removal from IR is not convenient at all with the absence of Farabee, Frost, and Tippett, but Lycksell is f***ing dead apparently.

Nah, he's been starting to skate and practice for the last week or two. It's the world shittiest coincidence. The list of players I'd rather see is about as long as the list of contracts the Flyers hold. Also anyone who was waived yesterday.

I still pull out some of those old cassettes (I have a 2000 S10 with a cassette player, lol) from time to time. They hold up, IMO. One of the biggest shocks of my life was discovering like 30 years ago that Rollins is a really intelligent dude. I can honestly say I didn't see that one coming!

In my truck, at the moment, I have John Scofield "East Meets West" and Edgar Winter "They Only Come Out at Night". Again, I think it's a good thing to listen to different styles, lol. For short drives I just listen to classic rock radio because I'm lazy. It was a few years ago when The Waitresses "Christmas Wrapping" came on the radio as I was driving to work and as I was really listening I thought, "Holy shit, this bass line is fantastic!"

Scofield is still an animal. (complimentary)

I saw him play with Medeski, Martin, & Wood in 2015ish and 2005ish in Philly and NYC and was just completely blown away. It was an entire stage full of monstrous talents.

I like to think I'm fairly proficient with my instrument...then I see certain stuff being performed live and realize, no, I'm not.

To bring it all back to hockey, I'm Noah Cates compared to a sea of McDavids. Every now and then I can pull off something crazy, but it's often not repeatable when called upon. Not a slight to Cates, just reality that some people have gifts that others don't, and no amount of practice, or snot and balls, is ever going to change that...and when our team actually does manage to luck into drafting someone gifted they make it a mission to turn them into Phil Rudd from AC/DC.

He said they need to stop passing, shoot, and hope pucks bounce off them. Just an incredible offensive mind.

I like when he said “grind away” good ole boys are jumping up and down when they hear this type of verbiage. Torts is a lifelong Flyers management member you can take that to the bank lol.

Michkov’s offseason will be a boxing / UFC training regime so he can get in fights for ice time I’m assuming.

Lol, I feel ya!
I think I’m a decent guitarist and then I listen to a guy like Al Dimeola, and realize, no, I’m not. 🤣

It can certainly be discouraging! I think what keeps me from quitting is that I eventually realize I'm still probably a better player than the majority of people in the world. I think it's hard to break out of that "I'm my own worst critic:" mindset as a musician. It can be crippling if allowed to fester. I just try to have fun with it all anymore.

I've been playing for basically my entire life, and I know I still have a LOT to learn. The problem is, with drums at least, the physical aspect is starting to come into play with me. Things hurt that didn't hurt before. I've always held the sticks incredibly loosely, but hand issues have been creeping up here and there. Much of that, I think, is from wrenching on shitty old cars. A few years ago I got an air compressor, so that at least helps with rusty suspension bolts and simple stuff like pulling wheels.

I actually think they win this game, score right away and everyone will talk about how it was addition by subtraction with Frost and Farabee, and getting some grit back in the line up

Getting some in me already, ain't watching sober, can't wait for Nicky D to get his face pounded in by some plug. Michkov will get 11 minutes of ice time and the authentics will enjoy the culture war.
