In Ontario. Big Gull Lake (which we nicknamed Big Dull Lake). The fishing wasn't all that great, to be honest. It was mostly a drinking buddy kind of trip. The only day I had any success was when me and another guy rented our own boat from the place we stayed. We beached on a little island near a pinch point and did really well with smallies (using artificials).

On previous trips when I was a kid, I went to Mosquito Lake (also in Ontario) a couple of times. We camped and got our water from a hand-pump well...that was most likely from the lake. I don't remember having extreme intestinal distress, so I'm thinking we probably had jugs of bottled water for drinking and just used that water for dishes and stuff.
Drank from the northern Manitoba lakes all my life lol. Rye and Lake was always a popular drink at bush cabins 😝

Have a big scar on my thumb from banging ice from lake to use with whiskey in winter time. Didnt even realize my glass broke and sliced my thumb.

Getting shut out by Jake Allen has got to be pretty close to rock bottom.

Right?

The place where we were at on Mosquito lake was some pretty shallow, stagnant water. Decent pike fishing though. Very weedy. Did well with the old-school Johnson's sliver minnow.

I'm thinking the rye sanitized the lake water, lol.

I work on my own cars. I don't know how many times I've been working on something, stepped away, and noticed a stream of blood oozing from somewhere. The inside of doors (if you've ever needed to replace lock actuators or window motors) is the worst. No space to work, and it's nothing but sharp-edged sheet metal.

I grew up in northeastern Pennsylvania. I still have vivid memories of my Dad making me drill ice fishing holes with a hand auger in 18 inches of ice. I wasn't tall enough to put sufficient downward force on the auger to get a good hole started, so it kept skating on me. After I managed to finally drill a couple of holes somebody nearby with a gas auger took pity on me and drilled a few holes for us, lol. That was around 40 years ago. We don't get ice that thick anymore.

This was on at a bar tonight. Someone at the table said, "Oh the Flyers still play?" No one watches anymore. I can't help but wonder who the hell is watching these games besides hardcores.

The funny thing is that WE are the hardcores

I don't know why my reply to you was lumped-in with my reply to Benny.

One of those things, I guess.

The site is mostly back to normal, aside from that everyone's avatars are small and the color of the name blends in with the dark background.

It's an annoyance, but seemingly everything related to computers is. Here's the NEW THING. Yep, and I hate it, and it's less user-friendly than the old thing. Change for the sake of change isn't a good thing, IMO. If people are happy with an interface why change? Been dealing with all of the Windows f***eries since '95. XP was probably my favorite. Stable, and not constantly bombarded with more f***eries.

One of those games. Totally dominated the 1st period until the last couple minutes, but couldn't score. Michkov missed an open net.

Then boom, boom, boom in the 2nd period, one off an odd man rush, two lucky bounces. Ersson tried to keep them in the game, but once he was pulled, after Michkov failed to clear the puck and NJ scored again, the team sagged.

Too many bad penalties against a team with a top PP, not a very disciplined game.

Not a big deal, this is what rebuilding looks like, if it was a tank, they'd be outshot 40-15 and xGF 35%.
Now if Colorado can stumble after the Rantanen trade, we can two picks in the teens.

The Flyers are a full 5 percentage points below league average on the pp.

By comparison, the 74-75 Kansas City Scouts, who went 15-54-11 were only 4 points below league average on the pp.

It’s beyond comical at this point.
Rockys gunna tear off his shirt and meet you in the playground..

just sayin.

The Microsoft philosophy is every time they come out with a new generation of microprocessors that double or triple processing speed, we need to bloat our operating system to ensure it takes the same time to load and maintains the same lags so our users feel comfortable.

Where I’m from , you needed extensions for your augers, so manual was for early season lol

I also have memories of dad and I with a manual auger.
