The Rangers literally think outright bad players are better 4th liners than their peers who are better at hockey.

It's been too long for there to be any other explanation.

They did a good job getting rid of exactly three of them (Boyle, Dorsett, Carcillo).

Eh Boyle wasn't that physical

I don't really remember Dorsett being that good

Dorsett was very good for a 4th liner. Particularly at scoring in the limited time he's was given, imagine that.

Boyle was consistently near the top of the league in hits. He wasn't a killer but that's because playing his position was more important to him than flying across the ice to throw a hit when the puck was already gone, looking at you Brett, Ryan, Tanner.

There's causation to the fact that some of the more violent hitters are actually terrible along the boards.
