I think @ownal may be correct. Sully has said it before, too. He feels we have a 1A/1B. This is so weird to me. I figured the way it went, was an attempt to get #30 back to #1. He delivered a freaking excellent 2nd/3rd period and you would want to run that high. Instead they must have committed to this flip/flop each game. That didn't work under #29/#30. Maybe it works here.

Or it might just be more of not wanting Jarry to go so long between starts with the break coming up and him having to play in the ASG... probably doesn’t want him to go in cold there...

These games right before the break are almost impossible to predict.

You don't know which teams are motivated to win and which ones are already checked out and in vacation mode.

Usually these games involve very little hitting because none of these players want to get banged up right before going on vacation.

The Flyers have something to play for being just a point out of a wildcard spot. They can't afford to take it easy. I can see this one being very motivated for both team.

Edit: If the Pens win they have a shot at being 2nd in the entire league if Boston loses. 3rd if both teams win.

I mean, that was the logic in giving him the start after the Detroit game and he laid an absolute dud in the 1st, so, might as well turn it back to your all-start goalie heading into all-star weekend.

Exactly, it would have been a tremendous mistake to NOT start Jarry. All-Star games can be tough on goalies you want to give him a potential good experience before that. Also, you don't want to allow any rust.

Like i said on the goalies.
Don't care who starts now. Just do your job.

This team hasn't played a good 1st period in awhile.
Maybe we get a good start tonight for a change.
I cringe thinking about
JJ-Letang
every game now.
They stay even or in the +, it'll be a W.
Konecny loves to play against JJ. They have a little rivalry goin'.

this is the first one that's made me actually question what he's thinking. It felt like giving Murray the Sunday game had a point to it. Now, it just seems sorta random
How to pick a starter ...

It doesn't seem to matter ATM.

I really want Jarry to start giving up less than three goals per game...some bad habits throughout the whole team defensively has been creeping up in January ..can’t count on always outscoring the opponent...
If we play Detroit another 4-5 times our goalies will have elite numbers.

The Flyers have been playing quality hockey as of late, especially at home. I've watched quite a few of their games. They are in that typical weird mid-season form where they play well before they collapse again.

Before the 5 games in 7 days, i said 3-2 would be excellent. We are 3-1 right now. Anything here is nice. If we go 4-1 in that span, with EVERYTHING we have gone through, we are solid.

Gotta have a win. Bury Philly just a little in the WC race; if the standings sort of hold, I'd rather Washington have to play a 7-game series against Toronto or Florida as opposed to the Flyers.

Ughh...it just hit me. With all of our complaining about fans 'bronx cheering' and Geno comparing our fans to Philly we are gonna hear some extra chants tonight. Not just the Crosby sucks....I'm sure they'll toss in a Geno chant. Probably another reason Sully is going with Jarry is they'd probably Bronx cheer him all game which they probably will do to Jarry.

...us making this into an ordeal is going to carry over. Philly fans are probably relishing this.

Good. They have a tendency to think their childish gibbering in the stands throws these guys off when it usually just seems to piss them off, instead. See: Crosby, Sid in like... every game ever against Philly. They largely shut up years ago with him because the results they were looking for were severely lacking. Hopefully they get back at it tonight so they can get their noses rubbed in it for like the billionth time.

Pens fans should chant “1975” for the entire game next time the Flyers visit Pittsburgh, hopefully televised on NBC.

I'd rather have a loss and 0 injuries than a win and our typical "Player X is missing". Just need to play fast and clean.

I know Crosby sheds off this stuff..just hope the rest of the team plays smart. Geno is a flip of the coin. When he's angry he can be unstoppable or take dumb penalties.

It'll be more of an annoyance listening to their dumb fans all game...

Hopefully Jarry gives up two or less tonight, no injuries sustained, and at minimum secure a five goal victory.
