Blues look really good. Slightly more dynamic with tarasenko, and still solid on the back end. Canucks are a very balanced team, but a better match up for us.

Odds are the Sharks would win. They didn't really have very many problems with teams you would probably think to be contenders. The Canucks were admittedly an exception.
Last year was an outlier for many teams. But it was just that. Last season does not mean that Phoenix, Nashville, LA, and St. Louis are the new WC powerhouses.

You may be discounting a few of them too soon. I haven't been able to see the Blues play this season but so far they have been scoring a scary amount of goals

I agree with you to a point. But for me to consider the beating we took from the Blues last year as an aberration I have to see how we play against them this year.

Same goes for how they match up against the other teams they play. Right now they are sitting pretty good with a 4-1-0 record.

Its too early to count them out on the assumption that last year was an aberration.

Last year's Sharks team was definitely an outlier...especially with Shaw and Woodchuck running things.

I never said they weren't a good team, I just consider them overrated (fueled by the fact that people talk about them A LOT) and that I do not find them to be real contenders.

the Blues have beat the wings (who look lost without lidstrom), the stars, and the preds twice (once in a Shootout). lets see their trap crap continue to work this year against good teams...

Sure. But that does not mean that the Blues are not a good team or not a contender.

Also lets see what they do with an actual team that can adapt to the trap system. There is a reason that coaches fhat coach the trap do not last long with teams, they are just to easy to predict.

Why do people keep debating the merits of the Blues? They're a good team and they kicked our ***es in the playoffs. Show some respect, please.

Canucks, Hawks, Blues, Kings, and Sharks are all contenders to represent the western conference and I haven't seen anything so far to put any of them significantly ahead of the others.

They don't have a lot of tough games match up wise. Wild game tomorrow will be interesting, similar to us vs. Canucks. Good test for both teams. They way we are moving the puck, I don't see the aggressive forecheck doing as well. Without strong center support on the break out, you won't beat them.

Canucks look straight forward, not a ton of speed, continue to lean on the sedins. They are getting some good spreading of the goals, but the tenacity of our D should really cover that behind the net offense. We are much worse against a point based offense. They rely on the cycle and slot chances (from what I've seen). Not as worried about this match up as I might've been in the past. This coaching staff will have a plan.

Because most people do not care what happened last year. If last year meant anything, it would mean ghe sharks would lose to the wings the last 2 times they have faced them.

In my opinion it would be stupid to not care about what happened last year. We cannot underestimate teams on the assumption that what happened last year was just chance.

The Kings won their first SC in 40+ years. I hope teams are not dismissing that as 'chance' and expecting them to not be good this year (regardless of their poor record early this year).
