There are very few ways to get Gio, Volch or Harrold out of the lineup. Actually, there are only 3 I can think of. Retirement, trade or injury.

Now, there's no doubt that it's early on in the season and that other players haven't been playing up to par either, but if you're going to take someone out of the lineup, these two should be prime candidates.

I have no problem taking Gionta out of the lineup, and do think as I said they ALL should sit occasionally, but it's not like he's been bad. Gauging Gionta's play by points scored, however, is somewhat silly. He's a fireplug 4th-liner who also gets PK time. The #1 reason why he doesnt sit is probably because he RARELY ever makes a mistake, and "Do no harm" is very important to Deboer.

HARROLD
As for Harrold, I think he's been playing pretty darn well, not to mention he and Zidlicky are the only 2 Devils D with any clue on the Powerplay. Your saying that he's -2 is no big deal, ALL the Devils defensemen are negative, except for Zids. Adam Larsson is -4. Volchenkov is the obvious choice to sit on this corps if someone is to be punished.

4GP, 0G, 0A, 0Pts, -3, and an outstanding 28.6% face-off percentage (which actually makes him better than Henrique, who's been equally abysmal in that category).

Peter Harrold:

4GP, 0G, 0A, 0Pts, -2.

Neither player has been on the ice for a goal scored at even strength.

Now, there's no doubt that it's early on in the season and that other players haven't been playing up to par either, but if you're going to take someone out of the lineup, these two should be prime candidates.

Bingo! Send those two back to the AHL where they belong.
