By the time organizations rush or overcook, or form a player into the mold they need for a particular reason that can ruin a players development and may teach out the instincts that made them a first round player. Also politics, nationalities, who you know and how you interview matters into if you are a first rounder or not.

just because your a first rounder when you are drafted does not mean you are gonna be a super talented player for every teams particular system. I see what your saying, but Torts is going ton build the system out of what he thinks works and if a player doesnt fit that system they will be filtered out
"Torts is going to to build the system out of what he thinks works". That's a problem. His success rate isn't very encouraging. The Flyers would be wiser to tell him thanks for your input and go in another direction.
No club can toss away players who don't fit a coach's system when the coach isn't having success on the ice. We have all seen Torts in action in the past. He blames the players and calls for the club to get him his kind of guys. It's his MO-the players suck; not me. Lets face facts here, the game has passed him by and he has not plan to fix that.

Since the fans were walking out with ten minutes left in the game and booing as well, the death march has begun. This has become an unwatchable product. People aren't going to come, pay good money and waste their time to watch this crap.
There are some talented players on this roster. If Tortorella can't find a way to put them together to be a respectable team, get someone else in here who can. Right now under his coaching they are playing like trash.
Was it a sellout?

Canucks flew further than Flyers did and also on an east coast trip and pumped them lol.

He also talks chemistry , we have the same f***ing team , chemistry should be the last excuse.

This coach is a damn buffoon and most the players appear to be regressing. Tippy with MM is beyond moronic and the only thing that is more moronic is printing Poheling to play with him.

This coach is a Dino clown that can’t adapt.

But he’s not the 4th, he’s the 3rd best D man.
That's even worse news for the team D

Would agree with Tippett. He's a player that generates on his own, Torts keeps saying that, so why put him with players who generate offense collectively?

It's a walking contradiction. Let him be with players who are struggling to generate chances; he'll drive the line. For others that can already generate chances, he pulls them down.
He also needs to be off the half wall on the Pp.

Do we know what the goal song is? :DD

There are fifteen first round draft choices, sixteen if you count Johansen, on this roster. Most of them are from the first half of that round. No one can claim that there isn't talent enough here to be able to play respectable five on five hockey through most of a game.
It's a cute stat, but when the highest drafted player was drafted before one of the players on the roster was even born, how relevant is it really? In fact most of the highest drafted players are some of the biggest question marks on the team - EJ (when he plays), Drysdale, Risto, Tippett while useful is underwhelming for where he was drafted, Coots isn't Coots. Which kind of explains the state of the team. Fairly deep, but no superstars.

edit: holy typos.

Look, it’s not that I disagree with you. This is unwatchable and objectively, a horrible product they are putting out there. But it’s hard to feel bad for the fans that are paying that money to watch when they ought to have known what they were getting themselves into.

It’s what lead to the firing of Fletcher. Not that a whole lot came out of that, but the Flyers have tried to do a masterful job of controlling the optics/vibes around the team.

Look at STG. Huge critics, now they have even more of an “in” with the team, and they are the biggest cheerleaders. PHLY is the same. Were critical as BSH, now with a few more interviews, and handshakes. Cheerleaders instantly.

Fan angst was why the let Chuck go. Not because of a realization he’s a moron. It will only be the fans, with their own money, and asses not in the rink seats - that cause real change.

Unless that happens, we will continue to see the same old shit.

Tippett doing his best Billy in 4C from Dumb and Dumber impression when he shoots. How. Why. What. Get this man an Ophthalmologist

Poehling with Michkov, sure was a decision to be made.

It's clear the Western Canada road trip to start the season was a dumb idea, both to f*** over your fans and secondly to kill the energy level of your players. Not trying to make excuses for them as other teams have to battle through this as well, but just a dumb way to start the season. Combine that with Torts Torture Skate Testing, just asking for a bad start.

The d is complete trash. I don't trust Sanheim rushing up the ice - see last game...Don't know if he's gonna do something or blow a tire and get caught.
Didnt Torts Teams start very good? They telled us such things in the last seasons cause his preparation for the first weeks is like the preparation for the playoffs. And every Torts team slows down later.

Now this Torts Team is slow now.... i wonder what will happen in a few weeks ;D

Torts isn't "disrespecting" Couts, he owes Couts, who is overpaid for his current production, nothing.
It's a matter of finding the right role that will maximize his value as he ages, and I think down the road LW is a better fit than center - but right now we lack centers.
If a coach thinks he owes the team captain nothing, particularly one who is the longest-tenured and the epitome of a team player during that time, there is a problem with said coach.

Signing a player to an 8 year contract who you don’t want on PP1 and don’t want playing with much of your top talent seems ill advised!

You and I see eye to eye with Tippett: we see his strengths too. Tippett is fine providing what he did last year. He’s around a ton of chances right now. But there’s a reason he underperforms the chances and you can’t linearly project scoring growth (looking at you Boucher). And if Tippett isn’t the core contending piece the team pretends he is, then they really only have 1.

They are owned by a media organization. They know how to effectively use their bottomless funds to craft a narrative.

They could be using it to develop a world class scouting department and development system, but that would take hard work and actually firing some people.

It’s what the Flyers have become. A bullshit narrative.
