Nikita Kucherov rookie stat line:
52Gp. 9G. 9A. 18Pts.
People need to chill out on KK. You can come in and not win the Hart trophy at 18 and still be a fantastic player.

Two players who Kakko is built like phyaiclly and are still active as rookies:

Joe Thornton 55 GP 3 G 4 A 7 PTS
Eric Staal 81 GP 11 G 20 A 31 PTS

I have a concern with our defensive system more than anything else really. I mean I never got the Pionk hate on here because I thought even in our crappy defensive play he still worked hard and was hard to play against but he looks good in Winnipeg, Shattenkirk looks good in Tampa, Yandle came to life after leaving here and I'd be willing to bet that if we moved Skjei he would become what we thought he could. I can't think of a dman that we let go that looked better in NY without considering age. So what gives here? This is more than a coincidence. Is it Ruff? What is it? Its definately something.

Our C depth needs to be Ziba/Lias/Strome/Howden.

Bring up Chytil and Krava. No Haley and McKegg.

Panarin/Ziba/Kreider
Buch/Lias/Kakko
Chytil/Strome/Krava
Lemieux/Howden/Fast

No Kravtsov has to pay some imaginary dues he owes to earn his spot when 5 spots belong to guys who can't score on an empty net. His preseason effort and enormous potential were not enough.

We need seasoned vets with grit. Imagine where we'd be with Chytil and Kravtsov? We might have lost 3 in a row. Oh wait...

Pionk not sucking ass stings a bit, but let's not forget that he came out guns a blazing last season for us too and then cooled off considerably while never really recovering. He does have a lot more to work with over there though and that will reflect in his numbers

Kucherov was drafted later but yeah certainly Barkov, one of the best power centers in the league, had two relatively unspectacular seasons to start his career.

Two of the players Kakko has been compared to- Nash and Hossa, neither of them came flying out of the gate as a rookie.

It's really only worth worrying about if he looks like crap and he really hasn't. We all wish he had greater footspeed, but he doesnt really need it with the style of game he plays.

NYR fans got everyone expecting a 70 point Calder trophy season and this church of kakko crap- give him time. Panarin, ZIbanejad, and Trouba are the big guns of this team right now.

Side note- for all the struggles of the team, Trouba looks every bit the part of a #1 defenseman. That's good news for such a mix of inexperienced and veteran disappointments on defense.

They’re in the minors to work on holes in their games while not getting their teeth kicked in when they’re on the ice

I don't understand why DQ benches ADA for making dzone mistakes when Pionk made about every conceivable defensive mistake last season and continued to get run out there for about 23 minutes a night.

Pionk, Yandle and Shattenkirk all look good.

Have you noticed how we haven't been able to shut any team out since about 2016 when Staal started to decline and would give away 5-6 more high danger chances and ~1-1.5 goals per game.

Not to mention the team is exponentially worse since then, and Lundqvist is older and less good than ever.

Hear u but probably be cause DeAngelo traditionally has responded well to tough love.

Maybe it's because you like ADA and dont like Pionk. Pionk is still getting 20 mins a night on a different team, ADA still getting benched.. figure it out.
