Lindgren and Rykov are going to get their chances this year and I predict both will be inconsistent when they are called up. It’s a 21 year old defenseman thing.

Fox has some of that too but he is so smooth you do tend to look past some of the rocks he pulls.

As long as these guys continue to improve, I’ll be understanding.

Not in a million years would I have thought he’d have this kind of season — on a contract year no less. What the hell is this?

Yah...it's beyond disappointing.

Sometimes athletes react differently than we expect when they know they are goners. Unlike how Zucc played last year as he was in similar predicament, Kreider seems like he's playing very tentative kind of like he's shying away from too much contact so he doesn't get hurt and protect his anticipated millions.

I don't know what it is but this is not the Kreider we all know and came to respect.

Sounds like you are rooting against him because you’ve been saying this literately every game. Lindgren’s more uneven than Hajek is

brashear was the only Ranger I genuinely didn’t like. Lindgrens defensive first play is what I am looking for at this point in the season. Hajek isnt all that noticeable for me he’s the howden of defense. Those are my thoughts.

:dunno:

I don't know how a fan-base that watches Skjei every night thinks Kreider is a low IQ player.

IMO, Chris has above average IQ off the puck, below average with the puck on his stick. He is prone to taking dumb penalties. But wouldn’t call him a high or low iq player in general.

Exactly.

I don't see why Kreider couldn't play RW.

This is not a dude that relies on his shot or hands lol.
It’s still an adjustment. I started out as RW; moving to LW took more than a smile. Naturally, I’m not a pro athlete, but changing sides changes things — especially handedness vis a vis passing.

Hajek isn’t a flashy defender, he keeps it simple and effective, he made a few good plays in the neutral zone to separate the puck from the puck carrier which ended up with the puck going back the other way. The Hartford game I watched the other weekend, Lindgren scores a highlight reel goal and made some highlight reel defensive blunders, he might not be far off, but he needs to smooth things like that out if he wants to be in the NHL

I think kreider has always been a laid back player to his detriment.

Either way, if he doesn't feel the need to push this season he could lose between 5 to 8 million total over his next contract.

Yeah I get that but it shouldn't be to the point where we won't try it.

It can be learned, but it definitely matters.

Every single baseball player hits left handed and right handed pitchers differently just because of angles and perception.

you have a point, Hajek and lindgren could be interchangeable as they might have similar good/bad plays. Hajek seems like he floats around the ice what I like about lindgren is his effort.

Rangers having an issue clearing pucks on the penalty kill. Caps keeping it alive at least 3 times led to their first goal. DeAngelo and Fox are going to have an issue if the Caps can get Ovechkin on the ice against either. DeAngelo turning the puck over to Ovechkin after a heavy forecheck led directly to their second goal.

All in all the Rangers looked good in the 1st--loved the hit and fight by Lemieux and a great finish by Buch on the PWP.
