Lundqvist seems to be over-committing a lot. Lost at sea many times.
When your defense is leaving seemingly every passing option open it makes it almost impossible to stay in control as a goalie, so much of the position is anticipation.

Georgiev was doing the same thing last night, I feel bad for both of them bc the in the D zone coverage is abominable. Lots of standing around, not taking any passing options away and not fully marking the oppositions players. Seems like there’s zero plan at all.

He’s made a bunch of good plays already, and if someone wasn’t laying on his stick he would have been able to clear that puck
Yeah. He has been fine. He’s learning and seems to be maintaining confidence. Like Kakko and Howden and Fox and Lias. These guys all seem to be benefiting and improving every day.

:dunno:

I don't know how a fan-base that watches Skjei every night thinks Kreider is a low IQ player.
Yeah I was a big Skjei supporter after 2017 but starting to realize his skating and decent size isn't good enough to overcome things like his IQ. Very frustrating. He's taken the opposite of normal development curve for defenseman. Started strong in his career (especially playoffs) now seems to be making no progress.

Has CK ever played RW? AP has played RW. This is the kind of coaching decision that drives me batty.

Not in a million years would I have thought he’d have this kind of season — on a contract year no less. What the hell is this?
I think he knows what his fate is and it’s affecting his play. He hasn’t been mopey like Zucc was last year but he’s certainly playing with less passion.

I’m beginning to think the Rangers are tiring of Buchnevich’s moods. He’s the most bi-polar player on the team. Kreider is also pretty soft that way. My sense is neither are with the team next year. Mental fortitude is key.

I thought giving Names the boot meant we would keep CK — and that would help kick start him. Doesn’t look that way.

Kreider is also limited but he plays an extremely simple game (sometimes too much with his chest snipes) and knows how to use his size and speed effectively. That's why I never thought of him as a dumb player.

Skjei is the opposite. He's an ok hockey player and great athlete who tries to play like Guy Lafleur. JT Miller, same thing.

That flat line the last 11 minutes of the 1st period.
