Those aren't the same. The idea of this elimination game (which is or has been played on pretty much every team board) is to rank the players based on value to the team, not to determine who's everyone's favorite player, qualifies for the extra effort award or comes from a certain country.
It's obviously just for fun and nothing to take too seriously, but when people rate MZA as high as Hank and McD and higher than the likes of Stepan, Kreider and Nash, not to mention a backup goaltender with 21 NHL games is eliminated later than a guy with multiple 40 goal seasons, it's just plain dumb.
It's not the "vote for your favorite player" game.
