The whole "only veto if it's collusion" thing is wrong, IMO.
Ed provided a perfect example of that a couple years ago. There was that guy who was basically completely inactive that agreed to an incredibly lopsided trade with Ed where Ed was getting like 200% value. I don't think there was any "collusion" there, I think it was just a trade where one guy didn't give a shit and said "whatever" and agreed to a pure garbage trade.
The outrage from that was so immediate and swift we didn't even have to veto it, IIRC, as I think Commissioner Ed canceled it directly. Now this McDavid trade was not on the level of that trade, but it's the same concept. There are times when trades are just unfair and upset the competitive balance of the league that have nothing to do with collusion.
This league has approved other lopsided trades, too, for what it's worth. So it's not like the veto is being weaponized here.
Well that would fall under that umbrella as it's somebody who clearly doesn't care about their team and is throwing in the towel. Do you think that's what Loki was doing here? Was he throwing in the towel 2 weeks into the season? Do people just think Loki is an idiot? Frankly I think it's insulting to him to even vote to veto this trade.
Have you looked into how people do this? Please, google "What is veto for in fantasy reddit" "When is veto justified in fantasy" and read. It's the absolute consensus that it is only for obvious collusion, someone throwing their team away, taking advantage of a clueless new GM.
NOT a trade with a fair trade rating of 98%, where it actually slightly favored the Tkachuk side; IN GENERAL POINTS LEAGUES; not our more heavily weighted banger league; where Tkachuk Skjei outscored McDavid Miller last season.
If you ignored the names, just presented the objective points here that these players have put up this season, last season, season before; Nobody would even remotely consider voting to veto, people are voting with emotion attached to the name McDavid.
Loki made a post that he was open to big trades as he needs to shake things up, I think people didn't expect him to be willing to trade McDavid and they have fomo. Boris kinda acknowledged as such saying that he'll give him a real proposal for McDavid.
