Gionta made a nice deflection and it dipped and changed direction. He makes the save if the puck isn't deflected.

It was an ugly goal no doubt, but not as terrible as some are making it out to be.

He still left a gap when he went tight against the post, I thought you were supposed to be knowledgeable about goaltending, I'd be furious at myself if I had let one like that in

I know everyone was looking down at their keyboard to formulate some witty response about what a terrible goal that was, but for all those who didn't bother watching the replay, Gionta tipped the shot and it just changed direction and fooled Hank.

Big deal Dusty would of saved it.

I never got to listen to JD, only in like youtube videos.

"call your cardeologist!" - just love it ... He's with STL or what? At some point we'll need some fresh insights. Maybe Valiquette can work his way into live coverage

Hank with the softy kind of. ****ing Gionta though, sick deflection xD

:amazed:

I guess I just realized it's been 10 years since JD left. Sam and JD as a combo were the absolute best, JD is one of the smartest hockey minds out there. They felt like a permanent presence in our living room for all those years.

Come on man even you can admit he shouldn't be leaving gaps when he's playing against the post like that, deflection or not, it went right through him

No that was a great deflection, Hank has never ever given up a bad goal, not since Mats Sundenlin beat him in pee-wees when Hank had a distracting booger ruin his concentration.

The Rangers attempted 4 shots after they scored. 4. In ~13 minutes of ice time.

Shot attempts were 6-2 Rangers when they scored. 14-4 Sabres since.

It has nothing to do with the Sabres.

The Rangers are 25th in the league in CF/60 while leading. They generate absolutely nothing once they have the lead. They stop playing offense.

You're right it's against anyone not just sabres but I find it hard to believe half way thru the first period AV decides to sit back with a 1-0 lead. Maybe the players and goalie should be held a bit more accountable

TBH it mostly wasn't Hank's fault, mostly. Spinning and unpredictable movement does suck, but it looked like he had a piece from my screen.IMO think he could maybe have gotten that

Tell me more about the reverse VH. :handclap:

Are we really going to debate a goalie technique because Lundy let up a soft goal that he should not have let up? I respect most of your posts but some of these Lundy defenses are getting a bit silly.
