Charon is our escort today? Yep, that checks out.

Detroit is a good example how not to rebuild/tank.
Missed the playoffs 8 straight seasons.

#9 Rasmussen, #6 Zadina, #30 Velono, #6 Seider, #4 Raymond, #6 Edvinsson, #15 Cossa, #8 Kasper, #9 Danielson, #17 Sandin-Pellika, 7 years, (10) 1st rd picks including (7) in the top 10, (14) 2nd rd picks.
Their best player is Larkin #15, drafted before the rebuild started.

To speed up the rebuild, Yzerman added Patrick Kane, Compher, Tarasenko, Coop, Gustafsson, Chariot, Petry, Holl, Motte, Talbot and Lyon (yep, former Flyer UDFA). Traded a 2024 1st for DeBrincat.

The Flyers are the poster child for NHL franchises going nowhere.
One playoff series win since 2012
Soon to be 5 consecutive years missing the playoffs
Not a single legit 1C or 1D in the prospect pool after all these years of failure

Please, keep on blindly defending them. It’s comic gold at this point.

Who presided over the Flyers from 2012 to 2023, Holmgren (and Clarke and Barber).
Holmgren refused to rebuild, Hextall blew it, Holmgren/Clarke hired CF and Barber advised Scott.

They never tried to rebuild, much less tank. A couple TDL trades in 2015, the Schenn trade, that was it.
They had (3) top ten picks, one they lucked into and blew. Provorov, Patrick and Gauthier.
And CF traded away a 1st, (3) 2nds, (2) 3rds, before getting a 1st and 3rd back with the G trade and a 3rd for Braun.

That's how you go nowhere, no coherent vision, just "patch and pray."

Yet you don't mention Yzerman got the team Holland had screwed up royally for the first 2 years of that rebuild. So that leaves 5 seasons he's responsible for trying to turn a roster over and he probably faced pressure from the top to not restart a rebuild.

Seider and Raymond are keys to the team today as his first two picks. I don't think it's what you can say was the bad start to a rebuild by him but management probably pushed him to accellerate it after those picks because that's when they added DiBrincat, Copp and Compher. GM's in a rebuild don't go that way unless someone above them says it's time to move it along and that move it along brought them 2 seasons later to a tie for the last wildcard spot.

Also since they are above the Flyers every season since COVID they might be doing something better than the Flyers.

Clarke, still involved
Holmgren, still involved
Flahr, in same spot since 2019
Briere, started under Fletcher
Torts, hired by Fletcher
Lappy, been coaching Flyers or Phantoms for nearly a decade
Jones, been here forever
Hilferty, Bullies fanboy

Nothing of substance has changed with this organization since before Ed Snider passed. The Flyers are one of the worst run organizations in the NHL. You cannot dispute that (other than by lying), the results speak for themselves.

JFC I just realized this is Lappy's 13th season as a coach in the org. WTF?

I see it in a different light. Unfortunate run. Provy left due to DEI, Patrick was damaged goods, Gauthier caused by interference outside of the team. Ellis, Coots, Farabee unfortunate injuries. Hart, immature judgement. I doubt many teams in the league could have done better with that string of bad luck.

Knowing this will make anyone so sick to the point they start to pee out of their butt.

Where have we seen that before?

I think that's what happened in NJ, which explains the money to Hamilton, Palat, Noesen, Tatar, Dillon, Pesce and the trades for Meier, Haula and Markstrom.
FO got tired of rebuilding.

Who presided over the Flyers from 2012 to 2023 doesn't do anything to change the fact this team has no 1C or 1D prospect and no plan to address those holes in roster building.

And the goalposts move....to another team that has out performed the Flyers in the same rebuild window.

Got Hischer, Hughes, Mercer and some luck with Bratt started to get better than the Flyers and then went fishing for vets.

Sure as shit sounds like what most want the Flyers to do.
Yeah, I'd like the Flyers to land (2) #1 picks.

What are the odds of doing so? With the lottery, even a full fledged tank is unlikely to land you more than one top pick, and you have to be lucky enough to have a franchise player available that draft.

Zacha #6, McLeod #12, Nico #1, T Smith #17, Hughes #1, Holtz #7, Mercer #18, Mukhamadullan #20, Hughes #4, Stillman #29, Nemec #2
8 years, (11) 1sts, (6) in the top 7.
8 starters and both goalies 30+ years old.

Flyers finished ahead of NJ last season with worse goaltenders, NJ has scored all of 5 more goals than the Flyers this season, the primary difference between the teams is Markstrom.

- Ellis is not bad luck. It was staring them in the face - you don't trade for a 30 yo, smallish d-man who already had an injury history and was in the beginning part of a 6 year MM$ deal...
- Coots is not bad luck. A team that is at a minimum 5-years away does not resign a soon to be 30 yo to an 8-year deal, who already had heavy miles. A smart team cuts bait and starts to rebuild (same thing with TK BTW)....
- Patrick was a bad pick and this is not hindsight. He also had an injury history.....
- Gauthier should have been signed when he wanted to sign, but they got cheap. You guarantee him a spot. On that team, there was no way he was not going to be one of the best 18 forwards. #5 pick who would have definitely made the team can't be guaranteed a spot, yet they can do it for a 3rd round pick and waste a roster spot on a 3rd goalie
