So you want them to single out and blame this player who is under contract for two more seasons?

Yeah. And I'm typically very anti-that. The Flyers already held onto him too long and tanked his value with months and months of leaks about how dissatisfied they are with him.

This was going to tank his value even further either way.

The team might as well have gotten get a win for themselves by doing the logical PR thing. The situation with Provorov was a loss even before this incident. Now they're all sinking together.

I'm cynical enough to believe that Provorov knew what would happen if he didn't wear the practice jersey. That it's part of his plan to get himself traded out of town. It might just work for him.
Beef is correct that the Flyers held on to him for too long. He was and will continue to be a bomb waiting to go off for the club. It isn't like hasn't sulked about losing his PP time; the letter on his jersey; or thrown teammates under the bus for various reasons. Someone upstairs has decided to cater to him for too long and now the bill is due.
Last night's fiasco is national news. It's a black eye on the Flyers and Comcast more for the manner in which they handled it than the jerk's behavior. I'm sure that Brian Roberts is well aware of what went down. Someone is going to have to fall on their sword for allowing this to happen.

Just a couple things for those who seem to misunderstand.
Pride Night =/= Star Wars Night
This isn't just a marketing gimmick to the people it represents.

bUt KaEpeRnICk - someone being punished for standing up (well, taking a knee) for people who feel oppressed in this country is literally the exact opposite of someone like Provorov facing the consequences of not supporting people who are openly oppressed in this country. These are not the same, sorry.

Provy has the right to not support the LGBTQ+ community and I have the right to think he's a c***b*g

Man if these dummies were actually considering trading him, they could not of botched this any worse.

There are organizations that won't want this heat.

Are you really surprised that most incompetent organization in all of sports would botch this?

Scratch him and "we're keeping it in the lockeroom" when Tortorella was asked why is all they needed to do.

Indisputable fact.

I'm cynical enough to believe that Provorov knew what would happen if he didn't wear the practice jersey. That it's part of his plan to get himself traded out of town. It might just work for him.

I'm guessing he just drastically cut down the amount of teams that would be interested in him, making him harder to trade. So I don't think that was his strategy. He's just a stupid ass.

Furthermore, there is not accountability when it comes to the Flyers front office so don't expect anyone to "fall on their swords." They just traded 3 draft picks for a known racist who peddles in dangerous conspiracy theories over the summer and then heavily marketed him afterwards.

Kaepernick, whether you agree or disagree (this point is in addition not opposition), was very specific in his reasoning. His actions were calculated, and they were still taken to places that wasn’t intended, which is why he was specific. He did not say ‘please refer to the handbook’ when put in front of media.

1. His play has been so lackadaisical lately that it seems obvious that he wants out of here. It looks at times as if he doesn't even care about what he's doing out on the ice. He just wants to be gone from here.
2. This is bigger than the Flyers. It affects Comcast as well. Their name is on the pages of all of the major newspapers this morning with regard to the Provorov incident. Last night's fiasco is, as you indicate, just the latest in the run of socially tone deaf incidents that the Flyers have jumped into.
One might say that social issues aren't hockey one but that's off base. In general, homophobia is a problem to a large part of the younger generation. Young casual potential ticket buyers might not want to get involved with the Flyers after last night's debacle. Image matters.

I agree with all of this but i'll also guarantee you that they try to bury it and nothing comes from it. That was probably the first thing Roberts said to Scott when he called him this morning. "Bury it." followed by hanging-up before Scott got even so much as a "Yes sir" in. Then Scott called Fletcher and passed that message along and went back to whatever the f*** he wastes his time on every day.

I know just the expert

@Sombastate you are requested

I don’t wanna speak for everyone but it’s never once mattered to me. I know they say white tape matches ice and black matches puck. They also say with goalies that white pads and black pads also have similar visual and psychological impacts, but I can’t think of instance in which I was truly impaired because of something like that.

So he took the chickenshit way out. Wants to play by different rules but doesn’t want to face the music. What would he do if he had a teammate that came out as gay? Would he quit?
Wear the jersey for 10 minutes and shut up. He probably is one of these anti mask idiots who go into a store and make a scene about wearing a mask.
All religions are bigoted and hypocritical.

Awesome. I've always wondered if this is basically a form of superstition where people like the chance that it may be true, and become attached to it.

This is probably what went down but I hope not. Some things can’t be buried. It’s outside of the hockey world now.

Going back to the game, the Flyers got trounced yesterday by inarguably the best equipped team in the League. Considering the opponent tonight, there should be no excuse of late-night travel, back-to-back games or the like. The Flyers had early powerplays which helped create a lopsided ice. The score was 1-1 at one point when it probably shouldn't have been tied. Yes, it was a nice recovery and 8-2-0 is a solid streak especially for this team right now but even without the unanticipated headlines, the win would have been mollified by yesterday's disaster.
I am enjoying the youngsters in the job training. The Flyers have the making of a nucleus in Frost, TK, Farabee, York, and Provorov.

My experience with people who fanatically preach „tolerance“ is that sometimes they are among the least tolerant when their position is being opposed.

Still it is painful to see how amareurish the problem has been dealt with. They could have made up a story about his equipment (wouldn‘t even have been a lie) or health and let him sit for a couple of shifts or even the whole game.
I think the only way to take on fanatics is head on, though. Not being Fascist is not enough, one must be actively anti-Fascist.

On the flip side, the teams that are now less interested in him are teams more likely to want him to support these initiatives in the future, so from that perspective, he's narrowing the field to places he's more likely to want to be.

I also use white tape. I feel like it gives me a better "feel" for where the puck is at on my blade.
