2021 Draft - Hextall's first in charge after taking over midseason, Pens had a 2nd, 5th, and 3 7ths. Rutherford traded the first in the Zucker trade.
2022 Draft - Hextall's second draft after first full season. Pens had a 1st (Pickering), 4th, 5th, and 6th. Hextall gave up the 2nd in the Rakell trade and the 3rd in the Carter trade.
2023 Draft - Dubas' first draft after being hired. Pens had a 1st (Yager), 3rd, 5th, 6th, and two 7ths. Hextall traded the 2nd for Granlund, a second 3rd to LA in the Carter trade, and the 4th to Montreal in the Petry trade.
2024 Draft - Dubas' second draft. Pens had two 2nds, a 4th, a 6th, and two 7ths. Dubas gave up the 1st in the Karlsson trade. Dubas acquired the extra 2nd in the Guentzel trade. Hextall gave up the 3rd to get rid of McGinn. Hextall gave up the 5th for Bonino.
Looking ahead, the Pens have their first round picks in 2025, 2026, and 2027. They don't have a second round pick in 2025, but they have two apiece in 2026 and 2027. They have seven third round picks over the next three years. And they have almost all of their later round picks, and in some cases multiple picks in various rounds.
As of now, the Pens have 10 draft picks in the 2025 draft, 9 draft picks in 2026, and 9 draft picks in 2027. They have not had a draft with more than 6 picks since 2012, when they had 9 (including two firsts used on Maatta and Pouliot).
You can disagree on the overall outlook, but the Pens have more picks under Dubas than they've had in over a decade. Pretty outlandish to suggest the pick situation is bad under him.
