I know that hockey fans in general feel that having a 'letter' is some magical talisman, but extra fabric doesn't really mean anything with regards to leadership, and giving Hank extra fabric wouldn't (or at least shouldn't) change the way he acts within the team environment, or how he demonstrates leadership
