Guess the point would be nobody else on the team deserves it.

But how would you know this unless you were closely involved with the team?
And even it was true, a goalie can't wear a later so it's a moot point.

I know that hockey fans in general feel that having a 'letter' is some magical talisman, but extra fabric doesn't really mean anything with regards to leadership, and giving Hank extra fabric wouldn't (or at least shouldn't) change the way he acts within the team environment, or how he demonstrates leadership
