Masterful defensive work by the entire team. The chip, dump, change game they played for most of the 3rd had me on edge, but Canada got no top quality chances, and Helly smothered every puck that came his way.

Again, this is why I never understood Pens fans vitriol towards him. Versus a faster team tonight, Sid looked a bit off and that's the Penguins best player currently v a league that's trending towards younger/faster guys. The roster is piss poor, he takes some blame in micromanaging some of the players but he's a hell of a coach. Not to mention the Cup wins he's had there, idc if it's been a decade. Some fans would kill for a single cup let alone a B2B lol

If Canada wins in regulation it doesn’t matter what happens in the US game. If Canada loses they’re out anyway because Finland would have more points than them.

I guess your scenario makes sense if Canada wins in OT… but at that point you’re basically telling Sweden we want to play you because we think you’re the weaker team if you tank that obviously.

I think the logical thing for the US to do would be to just rest their players and let the chips fall where they may. Every scenario is dependent on Canada not beating Finland in regulation though.

Thought Trocheck made some nice defensive plays, and was good on the PK. Neither Miller nor Larkin stood out at all. Not easy to do in a limited role but life ain’t fair

Last night is proof positive why Larkin should be 3C. Such an underrated two way player. He works pretty well with Boldy. If M. Tkachuk is out, Larkin has some history with Kreider in the WC when they beat Canada with McDavid, I think twice.

So the last two best on best WJC’s during lockouts you lost, the first best on best at the NHL level since Russia you lost. The USMNTDP has changed the footing of this rivalry coming on the heels of the Miracle on Ice and the 96’ World Cup. Major events generations of US players reference. Be happy it took almost 4 decades to get here, that actually says a lot about Canada. It’s time to stop making excuses and acknowledge we are not inferior and the Canada B team can beat everyone crap has been dead for a while.
