That's lame, they didn't make a decision on Makar until after they got approval.
What's stopping the US from saying another D is "sick or " hurt" in practice.

Matthews has been very good defensively, but I don't like him as a facilitator on his line. That's why I was optimistic with Hughes flanking him, but Hughes probably needs to center his own line. Matthews needs a playmaking winger. I would have tried him with Matthew Tkachuk. In hindsight I probably would have named Kane to the team as well. I think he would have paired nicely with Matthews.

Losing McAvoy is a big blow defensively and especially to the physicality of our defense. But if Quinn can play, it's such a huge boost to our playmaking on the backend, which has been underwhelming outside of Werenski since Fox hasn't looked good.
