Hedman, Karlsson, Dahlin and Brodin was dominated by czech euros in the wc semifinals, common sense say they will get smocked by nhl stars in the 4 nations.

Forsling - Ekholm
Lindholm - Andersson
OEL - Larsson
Hedman - EK

Is the reasonable thing to do
Is it reasonable to leave four good defensemen off the team over one bad game?

I like OEL. But the competition for D spots is so tough. Especially for the offensive D role. Karlsson, Hedman, Dahlin and Rasmus Andersson are all ahead of him in my mind. There would have to be multiple injuries for him to make the team.

Regarding Eklund, I think managers are usually hesistant to bring along youngsters. He'd probably need to utilized in a scoring role too. Stiff competition

I wonder if announcing EK65 and Mika was a mistake? The defense is stacked, and right now, there are better options than Erik Karlsson in Hedman, Forsling, Brodin, Dahlin, Ekholm, Andersson, Lindholm, Larsson, and maybe also OEL, Pettersson and Broberg.

Mika seems to be struggling, but so are many other Swedish forwards in the NHL. But at C, I would go with Petterson, EEK, Leo Carlsson, and William Karlsson over Mika.

Mika is a slow starter

How so? 7 points in 9 games are bad?
Mika’s game has been slowly declining the last few years. This year it’s gotten very bad. He looks either completely disinterested or injured. He’s actively hurting his team. Terrible turnovers, no defense, and floating around offensively. It’s possible he gets back to the slow decline of prior years and he’s actually just off to a slow start, but the fundamental problems with his game probably remain, regardless of a slow start or not.

He has struggled in recent years to drive play. That is the fundamental problem. He doesn’t use his skating very much anymore. He’s gotten too comfortable with his current arrangement where he gets his points on one of the best PP’s in the league (and his PP scoring is starting to decline a little also), while he doesn’t produce anywhere near how you’d imagine he should at even strength. In the playoffs where he’s been matched up against top centers he gets caved. Two years in a row at this point. It’s less bad during a typical NHL season when he gets some easier games and matchups, but it still shows up and this Four Nations tournament will be more like the playoffs where he’s struggled a lot.

I would not expect him to be a play driver. The best bet is he’s a big contributor on both special teams and he can be placed with players at even strength that help hide some of the faults he brings, preferably as a third line center where he won’t be matched up against the very best centers on another team.

Yeah, if anything Mika should be playing 3rd line wing or something at this point so he could still there for PP. At 5v5 he's a waste.

Elias Pettersson is struggling as well. The center position is our week spot. We are missing elite 1C. We used to have at least two (Forsberg+Sundin, H. Sedin+Zetterberg+Bäckström). But now it looks a little weak.

You guys need to wake Pettersson up in time for the tournament

Lots of options. Maybe he can be great as a wing aswell.
And try Forsberg at center?

Literally only center we have that's better than Karlsson at 5v5 is in deep sleep right now.

Edit: I might be a bit harsh on not including Mika there.
